I tried to update the Intel wifi driver (Ultimate N6300 AGN) using Windows Update and it worked, but then I tried to update to the latest Intel driver. The driver installation failed with this error:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Intel PROSet Wireless.msi in the box below."
And then there is a path to the missing msi: C:\Windows\Installer\_{ECE5B218-A086-4E18-A362-D11181681457}\
Image attached.
After the failure I tried uninstall the drivers and I get the same error with the missing msi. I download the driver manually and extracted it to find the msi istaller, and when I point the install or uninstall to it it still fails.
So now I have no functioning Intel wifi drivers and no way to uninstall the failed one... any ideas?
Thanks,
Michael

Hello N.I.
The driver MSI files can be found in the package Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and drivers for IT administrators:
http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034038.htm http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034038.htm
The standard installation method is using the .EXE files, but you can find the .MSI files in the bigger package.
Since this was caused by a Windows Update, you might be able to undo the change by restoring the system to a previous restore point.
Please keep in mind that Windows Update uses generic (in box) drivers, and the best source to obtain drivers for your wireless adapter is the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm PC manufacturer.
For additional assistance, let us know the following:
Computer make and model.
Wireless adapter driver previously installed and the last driver version you used when the issue started.
