I have an HP Elitebook 840 with the I7 processor and Wireless N-7260 adapter. I have a Linksys E2000 router at home. The wireless connection drops often and then will not reconnect. I have run all Microsoft troubleshooters with no luck. I have reset the router. All other wireless devices in the home function well with no issues. The wired connection to the router works without any issues. The wireless adapter seems to function well with all other routers that I have tried outside of the home. All Intel drivers are up to date. The HELP desk at my office could not solve the issue. The cable provider said to buy a new router. Any other suggestions?

Hi, allow me to help you with this.
I assume you already have http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034041.htm Intel® PROSet Wireless Software version 17.1 as you mentioned above. You may also want to upgrade the http://support.linksys.com/en-apac/support/routers/E2000 router's firmware.
Try to verify the wireless security encryption being used by the router and the laptop and avoid mixed encryption types if possible.
