Intel Centrino 2230 - How to uninstall the driver?

So basically guys, since I upgraded to Windows 10 x64 my wifi card keeps dropping, most often in battery mode.

The driver that I got installed is 15.16.0.2 and I can't uninstall it. I tried some methods and all of them fall into going to device manager and trying to uninstall both the bluetooth and wifi card drivers. The true is that, after scanning again the hardware they remain there (btw, I don't let Windows to automatically install devices software. I prevent that on advanced system settings).

Anyone was had this problem ?

Hello Pharaoh,

There are some considerations regarding Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 and connectivity issues in Windows® 10.

- This adapter is considered a legacy adapter, we advise you to contact the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html Computer Manufacturer and check if your computer is supported under Windows® 10. They should be able to provide their recommended driver for this configuration.

- If our best effort, you can try using the driver for Windows® 8.1, version 18.12.4. In most cases, it helps with this type of condition. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25298/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-8-1-?product=66889 Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 8.1*.

- Apply the setting mentioned in the advisory: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005544.html?wapkw=intel+wi-fi+recommended+settings Recommended Settings for 802.11n Connectivity

- Check the Power options of you laptop, in the Advanced Settings for your Power Plan, then make sure that the Wireless Adapter is set to work at "Maximum Performance" when plugged in and on battery.

Basically I can't uninstall the older version of the driver. Everytime I uninstall it (Intel Centrino and bluetooth driver) from Device Manager, after a scan they appear again.

But yesterday I did in fact the last trick that you mention, and for now is stable, finally. Nevertheless I will prefer a updated driver, but I think I won't get it.

Thanks,

Daniel.

Hello Pharaoh,

Normally, you can Uninstall a driver in Device Manager and mark the option to "Delete the Driver Software for this Device" in order to remove it completely from your PC, however, this option is not available for the Windows® In-box drivers provided with the OS, so you can uninstall it, but it will be reinstalled once you reboot, or scan for hardware changes. Still, you should be able to install updated drivers if needed.

The Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 is not fully supported with Windows® 10, and at this time, we cannot confirm if there will be a new release of drivers for it. Since the adapter is working well with our recommendations, we would advise you to keep it as it is to avoid any further issues.
