Hi all,
I am using an HP ProBook 650 G8 Notebook PC
OS Windows 10
with wi-fi interface
Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz
Driver Version 22.220.0.4 (Driver Date 29/03/2023)
Well my notebook can't see Wi-Fi SSID if the channel is in 5 GHz U-NII-3 band (channels 149, 153, 157, 161, 165),
in the same time my Smartphone can see the SSID.
The same notebook can see the SSID if I change the channel on the AP to bands U-NII-1 or U-NII-2
Any idea ?
thank you all

Hello lbrune,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201.
In order to better assist you, please provide the following:
1. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed on your computer or did you change/install the adapter to this one?
2. Is the Bluetooth working?
3. Have you presented any issues with the 2.4 GHZ band?
4. What is the Windows 10 version and build?
5. Is this issue recent? Was the 5GHz band working before?
Regards,

Hi Deivid A.
and thank you very much!
1. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed on your computer or did you change/install the adapter to this one?
>>> Yes, it is the original
2. Is the Bluetooth working?
>>> Yes, it is
3. Have you presented any issues with the 2.4 GHZ band?
>>> It seems to work proprerly
4. What is the Windows 10 version and build?
>>>
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Version: 10.0.19042 Build 19042
5. Is this issue recent? Was the 5GHz band working before?
>>> I have never been able to see the 5GHz channels from 149 to 161.
I have 3 Probooks (2 with Win 10 PRO and 1 with Win 11 PRO) with the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and I have the same result.
More notes:
please consider the Notebook can use Wi-Fi 5GHz SSID in channels from 36 to 144
but the Notebook can't see 5GHz SSID channels from 149 to 161
Thank you

Hello lbrune,
Thanks for your response. I would like you to try the following:
1. Update your Windows 10 version and build.
2. Try a clean installation of Intel drivers:
- Steps: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173.html
- Driver: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/windows-10-and-windows-11-wi-fi-drivers-for-intel-wireless-adapters.html
3. Try the "Recommended Settings for 802.11ax ":
4. Try to check with the laptop manufacturer to confirm if there are any restrictions with specific channels.
Best regards,
Deivid A.

Hi Deivid_A,
Please can you confirm that the Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz supports the U-NII-3 band, channels 149, 153, 157, 161, 165.
Can you share the datasheet where I can find the supported wi-fi channels?
Does the Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz work on other brand laptop?
Thank you

Windows 11 supports Wifi 6 best.
You can find what Wifi channels your card supports by downloading a wifi channel scanner app and look thru the gui for visable channels, Channel 36 is usually best for Intel wifi 6
The Intel AX201 wifi card is not dependent on laptop maker or desktop maker its dependent on the socket and chipset. AX201 wifi card uses a Intel proprietary socket with only select Intel chipsets.
Anyway good luck on quest for beginners knowledge.
Cheers

Hello lbrune,
Thanks for your patience. Based on the investigation, the channels are operated or regulated by country, and depending on the manufacturer of the laptop, the adapter may present some restrictions and is not related to drivers or configuration.
I recommend you check with the laptop manufacturer to confirm if your system is compatible with specific channels.
Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel.

Hi DeividA,
thank you for your support.
Well I will check my Laptop.
But Please can you confirm that the Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz supports the U-NII-3 band, channels 149, 153, 157, 161, 165
regardless of the Laptop and the country regulation.
Or is there anybody in the world who can see SSID in Channels 149, 153, 157, 161, 165 using a Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz (with any kind of laptop).
Thank you

Hi Deivid A. ,
Ok,
thank you for your support.
It could be interesting if somebody could share his system (Notebook, OS, firmware version) to understand in which cases the Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz works.
But for the moment you can close the case.
