Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz Speed Hard Capped at 100 mbps

I have tried both 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz frequencies as well as trying to adjust the speed and duplex settings (the option to adjust this is not available on this network adapter) but am still hard capped to 100 mbps on a 600 mbps network. I use multiple different server speed tests (speedtest.net and fast.com) and both cap out at 100 mbps and sitting in the same spot on multiple different devices I can kiss ~400-550 mbps. I have up to date drivers and OS.

Specific laptop is Lenovo Slim 7i

Any suggestions?

Edit: Also I have seen the similar thread from a couple years ago, none of the posts in there worked.

Hello FC3S_Robert,

It seems that you’re facing connectivity limitations. For me to address this properly, please share the information below.

1. Were you able to have wireless connection in a normal/expected performance before?

2. Is this a new system?

3. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

4. Are you utilizing drivers from the OEM or Intel?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

1. I recently upgraded my internet speeds from 60 mbps to 600 mbps so this limitation is new. I'd assume that it has always been like this.

2. Yes, this laptop is new, though however I believe it is an early 2024 model.

3. This is the pre-installed network adaptor on the laptop that it comes with.

4. I would assume I'm using OEM drivers, I have not changed any driver settings for the network adaptor.

Hello FC3S_Robert,

Thank you for providing those details. Based on your input, it appears the Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 adapter may be negotiating a 100 Mbps connection due to one of the following common root causes: Ethernet-Like Speed Cap, Router or Access Point Port Limitation, Network Cable (if applicable), or Driver Version.

Kindly confirm:

  • Are you connected over Wi-Fi or Ethernet?
  • What speed does your router’s admin panel show for the connected device?
  • Have you tried testing the speed in Safe Mode with Networking to rule out software interference?

Additionally, I understand that you have a laptop. Since this is an OEM (Lenovo) original equipment manufacturer device, please take into consideration that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed your system, nevertheless, I will do my best to assist you with your concern.
