I recently bought a Dell Latitude E4300 Business class laptop from an old friend that he bought awhile ago.
When I bought it, the wireless card driver was working and I could connect perfectly.
It had the Windows 8 Consumer Preview on it before I formatted the drive (To get some files off that I didn't want.) and installed Windows 7 to re-install the Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
I've gone to both this Intel website and the Dell website for drivers of my wireless card but none of them would successfully install. I am currently using my Netgear USB wireless adapter. All of the other drivers were installed/updated successfully except for a couple.
- Broadcom USH
- Dell Wireless 5600 Mobile Broadband Mini-Card
- Intel(R) WiMAX Link 5150
- Network Controller
- PCI Serial Port
- PCI Simple Communications Controller
Besides those few, every other driver has installed correctly. I don't care too much about most of those, I just want my Wireless card to work correctly.
On the Dell website, I have tried to install these files: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19 http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19
NIC_DRVR_WIN_R264963.EXE (35MB) & http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=0CXH0&FileId=2935048939&productCode=latitude-e4300&urlProductCode=False http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=0CXH0&FileId=2935048939&productCode=latitude-e4300&urlProductCode=False INTEL_INTEL--R--WIMAX-LINK-5_A03_R262863.exe (10MB)
On this website, I have tried to install these files: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21143&ProdId=2957&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20%2864-bit%29*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications# help http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21143&ProdId=2957&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20%2864-bit%29*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications# help
Wireless_15.1.0_Ds64.exe & Wireless_15.1.0_s64.exe
Again, none of these have installed. Please help!

Does anyone know how to make the driver actually install? Everything else that is supported on Windows 7 has been supported on the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Any ideas?

Thank you for your post, Intel does not yet have any driver for Windows* 8. (No ETA yet). If you got the laptop with Windows* 8 Preview installed you or if you upgraded it from the original install then you might have the drivers on the recovery partition. That would mean to reload the original Operating System save the drivers and then test them.
Note that the laptop manufactures commonly customize their Operating System and drivers for optimal performance. If you use a retail Operating System and generic drivers you may get different/unexpected behavior.
