Intel centrino advanced n 6235 Please help

I am a complete novice to the world of computing, so hope I have sent this to the right place.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and my problem is with:

Intel Centrino Advanced N 6235

Driver Version 15.7.0.4

Internet Explorer 11 stopped working intermittently, so I checked Action centre then maintenance and under view reliability history it said Internet explorer had stopped working and Intel Proset/Wireless Configure Service stopped working. This has happened for the last few months.

I downloaded the intel driver utility update, clicked on upgrade (as recommended) and the following message appeared:

"Errors detected during install error [800000000]. This version can not upgrade from the current older product. Please uninstall the older product manually. Please uninstall the older product manually".

I also have an error in event viewer of ESRV_SVC_QUEENCREEK which after looking up think it is to do with the intel driver update.

It has taken me weeks to get this far and now I don't know what else to do, so would be grateful for any detailed help with my problem.

Hello kittie1942,

Don't worry, if everyone was an IT Pro, I wouldn't have a job.

I agree, this error does seem to be related to the Driver Update Utility. What we can do here will be to http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/iduu-faqs.html uninstall the Intel® Driver Update Utility from Programs and Features, then manually remove and update your wireless driver:

  1. Download and save the latest wireless driver available for your adapter (but don't install it yet) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26656/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-7- Wireless_19.50.0_PROSet64_Win7.exe.
  2. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005587.html Uninstall your current Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software. Choose to "Discard Settings" when prompted.
  3. Manually http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005756.html uninstall the driver for your wireless adapter.
  4. Remove temporary files: Press the Windows* Key + R combo to open the run box > Type Cleanmgr.exe and press OK > Check "Temporary Files" and uncheck everything else > Press OK.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Install the wireless driver we downloaded back in step one.

Steps 3 and 4 are optional, but they will help make sure that all possibly problematic traces of your old driver and it's settings are cleared out. In the future, you can simply download the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005634.html latest driver and install it. You may also want to apply our http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005544.html recommended wireless settings.

Additionally, you may want to reset your browser:

Hello Carlos A,

I followed your instructions and now have the following details under Network Adapters:

Intel Centrino Advanced -N6235

Driver Date: 30th April 2015

Driver Version: 15.17.0.1

I clicked on the latest driver link you provided, but didn't have a clue as to which one to download, or, if I needed to update the driver again, but so far I have had no further problems. If you could let me know, that would be great.

Best regards

Kittie

Great. We can confirm that you've installed the correct driver. We're glad to hear that your issue has not presented itself again.

We have an article that tells you which is the latest Intel® PROSet package applicable, and which driver it will install for your adapter. This article is kept updated, so you can bookmark it and reference back to it in the future. All you need to do is expand your operating system version, locate your adapter, and click on the download option under the PROSet version next to it.
