Issues with Intel(R) Connectivity Performance Suite

Hello,

We have a customer who is receiving a driver update from Windows Update every day. We have determined that this is related to the installation of Intel(R) Connectivity Performance Suite.

The updates that are being received are: Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4 Intel Corporation - Extension- 2.1123.110.4

The update appears to have been installed, but it keeps returning every day, or upon the next search for Windows Update.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar or do you have any tips on how we can solve this?

Running Windows 11, build 22621

PC: HP Elitebook 860 16 Inch G9.

Hello Aleco,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We will be more than glad to help you with the shutdown issue.

To better assist you, please provide us with the following:

  • What adapter model do you have?
  • Have you checked your system's OEM for validated drivers or support on known issues related to the symptoms experienced?
  • Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

Also, you can manually install the driver Intel® Connectivity Performance Suite for Intel® Wireless Products and check if the issue persists after the manual installation. It is important to mention that this software only works on specific Intel® Evo™ or Intel vPro® platforms with Intel® Wi-Fi 6/6E (or greater) products.

Dear Sir/Mme,

I'm having the same problem with my HP Elitebook 650 15.6 inch G9 Notebook PC, precessor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1255U 1.70 GHz.

The last month I get the same request to reboot my laptop in order to install the "Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4".  Each time the update 'seems' to install, but the very next day the update is back again.

(I already tried installing this component manually with the link you already provided in this thread, but that didn't help me!)

How can I get this issue fixed. Really frustrating since other updates don't appear automatically anymore as long as this component is asking to reboot my Laptop.

Regards,

Piet

Hi Jean,

  • What adapter model do you have?
    • Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 1600MHz
  • Have you checked your system's OEM for validated drivers or support on known issues related to the symptoms experienced?
    • Sorry, do you mean HP here?
  • Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?
    • This is with the original adapters that came with the machine. We have several machines with the same problem
  • Also, you can manually install the driver Intel® Connectivity Performance Suite for Intel® Wireless Products and check if the issue persists after the manual installation. It is important to mention that this software only works on specific Intel® Evo™ or Intel vPro® platforms with Intel® Wi-Fi 6/6E (or greater) products.
    • Yes, when manually trying to install the software we receive: "The following objects are required to start this setup: No valid Dell hardware found.(See screenshot)"

So if its not supported, why do they receive the updates?

Regards

Aleksander

Hello Aleco,

To further investigate this matter, we would like to gather more system information. Create a report using the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel SSU)

  • Download the Intel SSU
  • Open the application and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel SSU will take you to the "Summary View."
  • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
  • To save your scan: click "Next"; then "Save."

Dear Jean,

I have exactly the same issue as Aleco with the same computer. It's an HP Elitebook 860 G9 with 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1255U.

The updates that Windows update installs each time I start my lapop are:

Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4

Intel Corporation - Extension- 2.1123.110.4

I then get a notification saying I need to complete configuration of Intel Connectivity Performance suite. I do it, restart my PC and the whole thing starts all over again. It's been doing it since January.

I'm on Windows 11 22H2, build 22621.1702

I am attaching copy of my INTEL SSU scan if it helps.

Regards,

Riccardo

Hello Jean,

I have the same problem with my HP Zbook Fury 16 G9 mobile workstation PC.

Every  day I use my Zbook I get the message that a reboot is necessary to install:

Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4 or

Intel Corporation - Extension- 2.1123.110.4

I got used to ignore the message. When I click the button to install the update and shut down it then always restarts again.  A solution would be very welcome.

See the inclosed SSU report.

Friendly regards,  Wim K.

I have the very same computer (HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G9 Notebook PC) running Windows 10 Pro 22H2, build 19045.2965. Exactly same issue: each time I run the Check for Updates from the Settings app, the system reinstalls the updates:

Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4

Intel Corporation - Extension- 2.1123.110.4

In the device manager, under "Software components", the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite appears, greyed out (see attachment). Properties give:

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)"

I tried to download the installer from HP (sp144782), with the same result. Tried a previous version from HP, same. Tried using the latest WiFi generic driver from Intel, same. Tried installing Intel Management Engine, latest version, from Intel, same. Tried installing ICPS from Intel, latest version, and got:

"No IPCS hardware was detected"

The WiFi adapter in my computer is:

Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz

which should support ICPS, from what I see on the relevant Intel web page.

At some point in all these trials I got an actual application called "Intel Connectivity Performance Suite", which was not starting due to something like "device unavailable". However at some point it disappeared, and I'm unable to reinstall it.

I have tried all sort of install/uninstall/reinstall for multiple drivers.

In the past week I have not received any other notifications from Windows Update that both Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4 and Intel Corporation - Extension- 2.1123.110.4 have been installed and the system needs to be rebooted.

However, after reading EMenotti's post I have noticed the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite appears to be now  greyed out under Device manager. So it has basically been disabled and that's why Windows Update has stopped bothering me.

I guess we'll have to wait for the next update to see if it gets enabled again...

We appreciate your patience.

We would like to inform you that we've been working on this issue with HP to solve this issue. The issue has been addressed, and the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite in the Windows Updates is now renewed. We would like to ask you to refresh the Windows Updates and let us know if this issue is fixed.

Dear Jean,

Thanks for the update. I have checked and the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite still appears to be greyed out under Device manager.

I have also tried disabling it and reinstalling it using HP Softpaq SP144782 (then rebooting the system), but nothing has changed.

Windows Update does not report any updates or new drivers as of yet.

Windows Event manager does show that the device has been configured, but then also says ('it's translated from Italian so there might be some differences with the actual version in English):

Device boot problem SWD\DRIVERENUM\{22d4d930-0ff9-4dab-a3e6-dc69be9b7d72}#ICPS&4&1978578f&0.

Hello riccardonc,

Thanks for the information provided.

At the moment, we are confirming if Windows updates are still recommending the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite. We understand that at your end, Windows stopped reporting this as a new driver update. Let us know in case Windows recommends this driver update one more time.

Also, we would like to know the experience of the other members that have joined the thread, as well as the OP.

Best regards

Hi Ricardo,

Nothing has changed on my side. Still get a daily message to reboot my computer to install:

Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 2.1123.110.4

and

Intel Corporation - Extension - 1.1122.425.4.

By the way, I don't have the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite installed on my HP Zbook Fury 16 G9 mobile workstation PC.  When I try to install the suite I get the message that no CPS-hardware is detected on the computer.

So up to now nothing has changed for me. Frustrating to be honest.

Friendly regards,

Wim K.

Hi,

I no longer have this issue (HP Elitebook 860 G9).

On June 2nd, HP Support Tool installed a new bluetooth driver (version 22.210.0.3), then I opened Windows Update expecting those two Intel drivers as usual, but nothing showed up. I don't know if this is causation or just correlation. But it's great news for sure.
