Issues with Wi-Fi 6E AX210 160MHz

Hello,

I have 3 issues with my WiFi connection.

1. warnings like in this thread here - https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/Issues-with-Wi-Fi-6E-AX210-160MHz/td-p/1562853

2. All time I reboot my laptop I receive 2 error messages because

- WiFi adapter needs to long (I mean) to connect to my neetwork and NETLOGON service can't connect to my domain controller

- group policies can't be received

3. With many other networks, the connection is repeatedly interrupted and is only available again after a few minutes.

I have tried many times remove all drivers and clean install but still no luck.

Hello Robbi,

Thank you for posting in the communities. Upon checking the SSU logs, I can see that this is an original equipment manufacturer device. Please take into consideration that our support for OEM devices is limited, as they might have done or require specific alterations and customizations in the system that we are not familiar with. Upon checking the website, I am unable to specify if the AX210 comes with your system. Just to confirm, is the Wi-Fi 6E AX210 the original wireless component in your system? Additionally, was the system working before? If it is, please let me know if there are any software or hardware changes that you have made to your system before the issue occurs. I will be waiting for you reply.

Hello Ramyer,

yes this is the WiFi Adapter which was delivered with my Gigabyte Laptop.

With the very old driver version - I mean 22.0.1.5 I do not have messages/ warnings like

The description for Event ID 70XX from source Netwtw14 cannot be found.

(The old driver has/ uses netwtw10 and not netwtw14 )

But I have problems with point 2 and 3 from my first message

Microsoft tell me - this is driver problem, Gigabyte tell me this is driver/ OS problem. The driver from gigabyte side can't be installed.

I don't know what I can do.

Hello Robbi,

Thank you for sharing this with us, for now I want to make sure your system is in optimal settings. Since this is an OEM device, we need to make sure to install the specific driver recommended by your OEM manufacturer. However since you mention it is not installing, is this the link that you are using in downloading the drivers? AERO 16 OLED (2023).  If it is not, are you manually installing it or using a software to download? When you go to device manager > network adapter, are you seeing any yellow bang? I will be waiting for your reply.

Hello Ramyer,

yes I have many times tried to install this driver. WirelessSetup.exe knowns "-l" parameter so I have created a logfile from todays installation.

(See screenshots. I'm German, so the messages/ Log file are in German language)

But again, my main problems are

- randomly disconnect from WiFi networks
- NETLOGON/ GroupPolicy fails after Reboot when WiFi adapter should be used

Hello Robbi,

Apologies for the delay in my response. To address the random disconnects that you are experiencing, kindly please try following these steps:

  • Make sure you have the recommended settings for the wireless standard:  Recommended Settings for 802.11ax Connectivity.
  • Confirm there are no pending Windows updates.
  • Try connecting to another network if available, and test if the issue persists.
  • Try connecting to another Access Point (AP) or router, and test if the issue persists.
  • Make sure the router or Access Point (AP) is well configured. We recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to ensure this.

Hello Ramyer,

sorry, I won't be able to try it until next week. I'm "in bed" this week.

But I don't think it will help. It runs stable at home. Not at work. I usually don't go on vacation either. Other devices such as smartphones or my Microsoft SurfaceGo2 are stable everywhere.

Hello Ramyer,

thank you for asking.

I give up. At home WLAN works without problems (OK the adapter comes up too late and therefore NETLOGON error).
Everywhere where the WLAN runs with 2.4GHz constant dropouts. Now I have new Smartphone “Google Pixel 8Pro”. When I switch on 6GHz here, my laptop can't find any WLAN that can be used.
In short, I am disappointed - by Gigabyte, because they have probably “modified” the card and in any case by Intel. As a small customer, you are always let down by companies.
The next devices will definitely be from Apple. At least there's no finger pointing.

(Gigabyte says - Microsoft, Microsoft says Intel, Intel says Gigabyte - great for me as customer)

(I cannot install the driver from the Gigabyte side. I have already posted the error message before. It would certainly be possible to tell me how I can unpack the whole thing so that I can install the drivers via Windows or give parameters as I can enter a kind of “-force” so that the driver is installed in any case.)

Hello Robbi,

We totally understand your frustration with the WLAN issues that you are experiencing. It can be particularly challenging when there seems to be a lack of clear direction from the manufacturers. For the recurring disconnections on the 2.4GHz network, it would be beneficial to investigate environmental factors and verify that the router's firmware is current. Tweaking the router settings, such as channel bandwidth and control channel, could potentially mitigate interference and enhance connection stability.

I can assure you that we have coordinated your case with our team and it appears that the connectivity issues that you are experiencing happens exclusively at your workplace, while the home network remains unaffected. This observation leads us to conclude that the wireless card is functioning properly, as it successfully connects to other networks. To further narrow down the potential causes, would you be able to share the following details:

  1. Have you reached out to your workplace IT department to address the network challenges?
  2. Would you be able to attempt a reinstallation of the operating system?
  3. Were you able to explore updating to the latest Intel generic Wi-Fi driver, version 23.40.0, to observe any improvements.
  4. Are you also utilizing a VPN connection?
  5. Is the issue only happening when using 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
  6. Could you clarify the location wherein you are attempting to connect to the 6G network? Is it's home or work network?

Regarding the Netlogon concerns, it seems to be more closely related to the operating system, specifically the Local Security Authority service that operates in the background, managing domain user authentication. The Netlogon directory houses logon scripts and group policies utilized by domain-joined computers. It would be prudent to consult with your IT department for further assistance. For additional information, please refer to the provided reference: Quick Reference: Troubleshooting Netlogon Error Codes.

Hello Ramyer,

thank you for asking.

As I wrote in my last email - I'm giving up. It costs me too much time to search and hope to find a solution.
I now have via Microsoft Update Catalog - a driver with version 23.20.1.1 from 20.12.2023. Next week I will try in the company if it works better with it or if it shows the same behavior as all other versions.
To clarify again - at home I have Ubiquitti devices and my WLAN runs at 5GHz. I have no problems here. In the company we have Cisco infrastructure and only 2.4GHz frequency is provided for WLAN. So far I've always had interruptions with the Gigabyte laptop. Other devices I have, such as the Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone or Microsoft Surface Go2, have no problems.

When I activate hotspot on my smartphone and select that it should be provided over 6GHz range, my Gigabyte laptop does not find the hotspot. If I switch it to 2.4-5Ghz, it is found immediately. I don't have any other devices or options for testing 6Ghz.

Next week when I'm back at work I'll test it and let you know.
Maybe Windows 11 24H2 will bring an improvement later.

To your questions.

1. Yes, but noch others guys have issues with WLAN in our company

2. No

3. No

4. No

5. Only 2.4GHz

6. The only one possibility I have with 6GHz network is my Smartphone as Hotspot

Hello Remyer,

Of course I have given up. I just said to myself that after I had found the drivers at Microsoft, I would give them a try.

However, the result is the same. Everything works at home. At others only if it is a 5GHz network. Today I was at the company and unfortunately the old picture - Connect/ Disconnect.... waiting some time, connect/ disconnect.....

And of course in Eventlog (system) - Missing description for Event-ID 7021 from source netwtw14.

(My Microsoft Surface Go2 means - Event ID 7021 (on netwtw10) is "connection telemetry fields and analysis usage "

The next missing description in netwtw14 is for Event-ID 6062.

Again Microsoft Surface Go2 means here (again netwtw10) Event-DID 6021 is "Lso was triggered"

Drivers I have found in Microsoft Update Catalog - https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=intel+ax210

I have yet installed this Version - https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=7dd9a675-d4ae-47b0-b189-f50544d1a174

Version 23.20.1.1

As I wrote - maybe it will be better with Windows 11 24H2. If not, then I'll just say goodbye to Windows and switch to Apple.
Of course I understand that a remote diagnosis is not easy - so far I have not received any support from Microsoft, Gigabyte or Intel. Try driver 1 or driver 2 - is no support for me, because I can do it all myself.
I am able to do a lot of things, as I usually work with computers all day. I don't believe that there is no way of logging why the crashes occur and why the descriptions for the event IDs mentioned are missing.
If I ask Google about problems with the map, I get a lot of hits.
I don't find that particularly customer-friendly.
