Hi,
I use a https://www.intel.fr/content/www/fr/fr/products/wireless/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7265.html Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7265 on a https://www.intel.fr/content/www/fr/fr/products/boards-kits/nuc/kits/nuc5cpyh.html Intel NUC NUC5CPYH. The OS is Linux Debian 8.
I create an access point with HostAPD in b/g/n mode.
Do you know the limit of the number of users connected at the same time on the wifi? Works fine with 14 connected devices but not more
How to increase it?
This limit is hardware?
I can't find information about this.

There's not an established number for the maximum number of clients that can connect to a system with an Intel® Wireless adapter when used as an access point (with HostAPD or similar applications). This is defined by other factors such as the device driver and the application itself.

Hello,
did you find the answer ? did you find a solution to extend this limit ?
I use a NUC intel which seem to be similar to yours : NUC 7i7BNH X1.
there is a chipset for wifi, integrated to the board : Intel® Wireless-AC 8265
this chipset seem to be able to go until 867 mbps.
on my side, I can connect only 8 device (ipad ) on the hotspot. I am running Ubuntu 18.04.
I need to connect 16 ipads...
the wifi is extremely slow, less than 50 mbps : the NUC is not connected on internet.
the ipad are far away less than 2 meter from the NUC !
any idea , any infos about your problem could, may be, help me.

Hello,
Yes, i found a solution. Don't use the intern Wifi 😏 ! The limit is near 12 connexions only; after 12, the hotspot doesn't work correctly. It's not a software problem but hardware.
The easly solution is to have another Wifi module as the "ASUS USB-N14" (< 30$) , i can connect more 40 device (IPad) without problem 😄

on my side, I need to have fast wifi, so I will look for something like the Asus N300, nut faster ( I would need more than 867 mbps if possible)
I tried to buy the tp-link archer T9UH, but it seem to not be able to create an access point, or a hotspot.
