NUC6i5SYH connects to wifi but no internet

NUC6i5SYH used to connect to the home DSL wifi on US Robotics router (2.4GHZ - 802.11g) but all of a sudden no internet is being detected.

There are other devices connected to the home wifi and internet is working perfectly for them. So no issue with the wifi. No changes have been made on router since I have bought the NUC 6 weeks ago.

Checked the number of devices and connections on the client list on the router. The NUC is listed but no internet is detected.

Updated all the drivers using Intel(R) Driver Update Utility 2.5 yet no internet.

Tried alternative internet through pocket router using wifi and USB - both work fine on NUC.

agkrish,

Could you please inform which wireless adapter you have installed in it. We need full information on the adapter.

When you bought this NUC, did you buy it with this adapter already integrated?

Regards,

Aleki

agkrish,

In this case, our recommendation is to update the drivers to its latest version. 18.40.0 - You can find it through this link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25833/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=86068 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 download the one according to your OS architecture 32 or 64 bit

Sometimes, a clean installation is the best option. You may follow these steps in case you are willing to trya clean installation.

1. Download and save the driver above.

2. Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features and Uninstall "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software", if it is installed. When prompted, choose the option to "Discard settings".

3. Also in Programs and Features, Uninstall Intel® WiDi Software.

4. In Control Panel, Device Manager, Network Adapters, right click on the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 and Uninstall it. Make sure you mark the option to "Delete the driver software for this device".

5. Reboot the NUC and scan for hardware changes, check device manager and if an older driver is detected and installed, repeat the actions to uninstall and delete it as well. Repeat this process until the OS does not allow deleting the driver, or until the controller shows as Unknown Device.

6. Install the Intel® Wireless driver. During the first steps of PROSet/Wireless installation, make sure to customize the installation and install all the 3 driver components.

Let us know the results, please.

Best regards,

Aleki

By virtue of Intel(R) Driver Update Utility 2.5 I already had version 18.40.0. Nevertheless followed steps 1 and 2.

Step 3: Could not locate Intel WiDi under Programs and Features.

Step 4,5 & 6 - completed

To rule out any issue with the ip tables - performed a reset of the router. Then set it up with diff SSID band 2.4 Ghz - 802.11g on Channel 11.

Though NUC6 connects to the "new wifi", the speed is slow. Need to check with the ISP of any possible bandwidth clogging.

Your prompt support is much appreciated.

best regards

agkrish,

While you check any source of interference that could possibly affect your Internet speed with your ISP, here are some solutions that might improve your experience.

A very important thing to consider is the type of router you have. This adapter is designed to achieve high performance as you can confirm here: http://www.intel.my/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/dual-band-wireless-ac-8260-brief.pdf Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 - PRODUCT BRIEF, but the router and its configuration also plays a significant role. We were wondering if you could try to connect to a different network and test the speed. Make sure not to have applications that use the Internet running in the background as this also can disguise the real results.

Sometimes, depending on the firewall and antivirus settings, you may get slow speeds as well. It is recommended to check such settings and try to find the best optimized settings.

Let us know which OS you currently have on this NUC.

Best regards,

Aleki
