Hi, I'm using a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1 x64. It has the Intel Wireless-N 7260 w/ BT. Right now I have installed the driver 17.0.1401.0428. I'm trying to install the new 17.1.0 driver, but once I install it (everything goes fine), I check my drivers with Intel® Driver Update Utility and it again detects that I'm using the version 17.0.1401.0428. If I go to Device Manager, the Bluetooth driver's version is 17.0.1428.1.
I don't understand anything. I install 17.1.0, it detects 17.0.1401.0428 and I have actually installed 17.0.1428.1.
Any help? Thanks!
PD: My BT is working fine, but I just wanna have the latest and best drivers.

Hi rambomhtri,
Let me help you with this.
It is important to mention that updates include fixes for some issues so when there is a new update it does not necessarily mean you computer needs it but try the following steps to update the software:
- Update the computer BIOS to latest.
- Run all windows updates. We have found that they are releasing many fixes for BT issues.
- Uninstall the current driver and download the latest here:

I'm having exactly the same issue. I can't update the BT driver to anything higher than 17.0.1405.0464. There must be something faulty with the installation package.

I'm having the same problem. I also can not use any Bluetooth features such as a2dp or streaming with this intel Bluetooth as I did with my old Dell 1703 card.
I hope intel is going to fix this problem. Tech support was very nasty and actually hung up on me when I brought it to their attention.

OK, I've downloaded again the very latest driver version for Bluetooth and Intel Wireless-N 7260:
Bluetooth 17.1.1406.01 x64:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24191 Intel® Download Center
Intel Wireless-N 7260 17.0.6 x64: (drivers only)
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24168 Intel® Download Center
I've installed both and restarted. This is what I have:
Bluetooth:
Version I download and install: 17.1.1406.01
Version Device Manager detects: 17.0.1428.1
Version Intel Driver Update Utility detects: 17.0.1401.0428
Wireless:
Version I download and install: 17.0.6
Version Device Manager detects: 17.1.0.19
Version Intel Driver Update Utility detects: 17.0.5.0
What the hell?
PD: now Intel Driver Update Utility says I'm using the current driver version in both Bluetooth and Wireless-N 7260. So the problem is solved after that Windows Update I've posted in the previous message. BUT I see the that there should be at least 2 warnings, cause none of the 2 drivers are up to date according to Device Manager.

Could you please provide screenshot of Control Panel | Uninstall Programs screen. You may have sort by name so I can see all the Intel products installed.

Of course:
That's all what I have of Intel in Programs and features
PD: Intel Driver Update Utility
I don't even have the AC adapter. May be it detects it as the AC card because it shares drivers with the Wireless-N 7260, I don't know.

Please uninstall "Intel PROSet/Wireless Software For Bluetooth..." entry and perform cold boot.

Or better, (if anything goes wrong with the above step) you may want to uninstall both Intel Bluetooth entries, cold boot (shutdown /p) and then re-install Bluetooth 17.1.1406.01.

I've uninstalled the 2 Bluetooth programs, reboot, re-installed the latest version, and everything is the same. BUT now I can't send archives via Bluetooth to my laptop. I can send from laptop to mobile, but not viceversa. This happened to me weeks ago. The cause is that there's a service/program named Btmshellex that should start up with Windows, and now there's no such a program in the Start Up Tab in Task Manager. How can I fix it?

You might have to go back in version to 17.0.1405.02 (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProdId=3714 Intel® Download Center). Full install failure with 1406 for 7260 is being investigated.

OK, I know what's going on, if this thing called PROSet/Wireless doesn't appear in the Programs and features Window, that Btmshellex won't appear in startup tab, so I won't be able to receive files with the laptop, I send a file to my laptop, but there's no pop-up asking if I wanna receive something.
I've installed after all of this the latest PROSet/Wireless drivers 17.1.1406.01, and I'm getting a different version in the Programs and features Window: 17.0.1405.0464.
Before doing all of this, I had there the 17.0.1401.0428, so something has changed after doing this. But again, I think that number should be 17.1.1406.01, not 17.0.1405.0464.

rambomhtri - With 17.1.1406, you could still receive files by choosing Receive Files option from BT icon on systray. Mismatch in version# is another issue being investigated...
Both installers enable most used BT features such as sending files, HID support, Audio support etc. The custom GUI version you see with PROSet/Wireless installer is being depreciated in favor of native Microsoft BT support in latest installers.

Ammm, I think I'm using all the time Windows native GUI's. When I send a file to my laptop, this pop-up appears if everything is working fine:
I don't use any system tray icon, indeed I hide it and it does not appear in the tray.
I didn't understand this sentence: "Mismatch in version# is another issue being investigated..."
If there're 2 Bluetooth entries in the Programs and Features window, then that window will pop-up if I send a file to my laptop. If there's only one entry (as I had after uninstall it and reinstall the latest version), it won't pop-up, and I won't be able to receive files, though I always can send files.

This is an enhanced version of File transfer service from Intel not MSFT. I assumed your installation was incomplete when you re-installed again. Looks like you have a good BT installation now?

Yeah, something went wrong, cause I didn't have that PROSet/Wireless entry in Programs and Features (I don't know what went wrong, cause when I re-did it I did the exact same thing: uninstall both, reboot, and install). Now I have it, so it's working nice. This is what I have now:
Bluetooth:
Version I download and install: 17.1.1406.01
Version Device Manager detects: 17.0.1428.1
Version Intel Driver Update Utility detects: 17.0.1405.0464 (this one is newer, and it's the same that appears in PROSet/Wireless in Programs and Features)
So still numbers don't fit. They should be the same, right?
Another question, if I'm using an Intel GUI when receiving a file... which one is the Microsoft GUI?
Cause that window when receiving a file is the default.

Correct, version # should be the same from all the three. For now, I'd trust the version # reported on control panel | uninstall programs if you click on the install entry. The version should be displayed at the bottom of the applet window.
Intel GUI replaces MS GUI on 7 and 8. Also in 8.1 if 7260.
