So my new Laptop arrived yesterday and I'm a little disappointed. The wireless AC speeds are not what I expected. My MacBook Pro has a wireless AC card and it gets 350/25Mbps with no issues. My Dell only gets 60/25Mbps. Dell wants me to send it to them so they can replace the network card. I don't want to and I shouldn't have to. I'd rather take it back to store and have them replace it as it's under 24 hours old. Here are some specs. Why is this Dell AC card so crappy?
Router: Asus RT-AC5300
Network Card: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165
Speed: 433Mbps
Driver: 19.40.0.3

Hello DarkSorrow,
As we understand, you are getting low speed tests for you wireless connection. It is worth to mention that the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 is a 1x1 adapter with a maximum data rate of 433 Mbps, and checking the screenshots, it is actually connected using this speed.
Here are few items for your consideration, based on the information you provided so far:
- Contact thehttp://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support and make sure you are using their recommended driver. As second option, you can use https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/89450/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-3165 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers [19.40.0].
- Check the configuration of your Wireless access point and review the QOS configuration, make sure bandwidth control and any other type of white-lists are disabled, or at least, allowing high priority for the new PC with the AC3165 (please check with the AP manufacturer for details about this).
- Try disabling the Bluetooth component in your PC (normally done with a switch in the chassis, or with a key combination), and check if it helps.
If you require further assistance, please provide the following:
- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility Download Intel® System Support Utility, run the tool and use it to create a report with all sections, on the next screen, Save the report to a file. Then use the Advanced editor options to add the resulting XML file to your post as an attachment.

Jonathan B.

I returned the laptop and now am awaiting the vendor to send a new one. If the new one has the same issues then your wireless AC3150 cards are garbage.

I ordered a Intel 2nd Generation Dual Band Wireless Adapter for Desktop Computer/Notebook (7265) from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RCZ4I6S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Amazon.com: Intel 2nd Generation Dual Band Wireless Adapter for Desktop Computer/Notebook (7265): Computers & Accesso… ) but couldn't get the 2 antenna's to connect to it. Is this something Dell can install if it's sent to them? I'd much prefer the faster AC 7265 crd since it does 633Mbps. I have a feeling the Wireless AC 3150 card really does top out at 60Mbps not 433Mbps..

Only OEMs are allowed to install and configure these adapters.

Don't see why the Wireless AC 3150 is only getting 60Mbps when it's rated for 433Mbps. That' an issue with Dell in itself. I tried the drivers from Intel and Dell websites and both produced the same problem. Don';t see why my MacBook Pro with a Wireless AC card is getting 350mbps and this one can't even pull half that!

Hello DarkSorrow,
As Doc mentioned, a custom installed adapter may or may not work in your computer. You have to check with the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support or its authorized service provider in order to replace an Intel® Wireless Adapter.
There are different things that can interfere with WiFi connectivity, as mentioned in the following advisory:

For any additional assistance, please review our previous recommendations about Drivers, QOS, configuration, Bluetooth interference and how to retrieve the logs required for troubleshooting.
