Remembering BSSID

When connecting to a wireless access point (AP), the load was high and the response was poor, so I intentionally switched to using the SIM card to maintain a stable connection. After that, when I connected to Wi-Fi again, it automatically connected to the closest wireless AP.

<Question>
Is it true for the device (Windows) to remember the previously connected BSSID and continue using it? I contacted Microsoft, and they mentioned that it depends on the driver of the wireless adapter.
Please tell me how to clear or configure BSSID.

OS:Windows 10 Pro
OS:Version 21H2
OS:Build 19044.2965
Processor:11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1145G7 @ 2.60GHz

Best regards.

Hello Hiroshi_Y,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your wireless adapter.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed on your computer or did you change/install the adapter to this one?

2. Is the Bluetooth working?

3. Is this a laptop or desktop computer?

4. What is the brand and model name of your wireless adapter?

5. To confirm, is the adapter connecting to the wrong AP? Or, is it not supposed to connect to any AP?

Hello Hiroshi_Y,

Thanks for your response. Based on the information provided, please try the following:

1. Update your Windows version (built: 19045) as well as the optional updates.

2. Perform a clean installation of the Intel driver:

3. Try to forget the wrong Wi-Fi network.

  • Type Settings in the search box.
  • Click Network & Internet.
  • Click Wi-Fi on the left pane of the Network & Internet window.
  • Click Manage Wi-Fi settings.
  • Select the network name and click Forget.

4. Try to block the wrong Wi-Fi network. You can check the steps in the following Microsoft forum:

Hello, Deivid A,

My explanation was bad.
It's not the wrong AP, there are several same name APs that don't allow for a seamless connection.

So, I couldn't forget the wrong Wi-Fi.

Best regards,
Hiroshi.

Hello Hiroshi_Y,

Thanks for your patience. Based on the information provided and the troubleshooting performed so far, I can only recommend you try the following

Also, I would like to let you know that the networks saved or connected previously are managed by the Operating system (Windows) and not by the drivers or adapter. I recommend you check with Microsoft to confirm if they can provide you with further assistance.

Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel.
