I have a 60Mbps connection at home and with the 7260 card I used to get up to 56Mbps through my laptop but since driver version 16.6.0.8 I can only ever get a maximum of 25Mbps. Nothing else has changed, I use all the same settings and even tried newer beta drivers. I have rolled back to 16.5.3.6 as this was the last driver that would provide the correct speeds however this driver suffers from drop outs and every few hours I have to switch the wifi card off and on again as it drops to a few Kbps.
Can anyone please help?!intspeed

Well, it's just like that with new drivers: they are far more stable but offers slightly less throughput the previous drivers. Well, I'm running 16.8.0.6 beta on my 7260 N but I don't notice that much throughput degradation compared to 16.1.5.2 / 16.5.3.6 drivers. Maybe it's because my internet plan is only 15 down / 1 up but LAN file transfer (60 Mbps average) with the beta drivers give similar speeds to the previous drivers at a good signal strength of -47 dbm.
Can you make sure that you're running WiFi N by enabling HT Mode with the beta drivers? Also make sure to check for the connection speed (at least 144 Mbps or greater) in the WiFi connection status..

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I have made sure HT Mode is always enabled and connection speed is always high. Nothing looks any different settings wise to the 16.5.3.6 drivers, so I just can't understand the dramatic difference in speed.

Hi, I am using the same wi-fi card and when I tested for the speed, the upload speed is 3 times higher than the download speed (1500 kBps is the upload speed and 500 kBps is the download speed). Please help me if I need to change some configurations. My HT mode is also enabled.

I just managed to fix this problem by replacing the Router's firmware to a newer one.
After dealing with this problem for almost a year now with the OEM card (6235) and a new one I purchased N7260 I realized it cannot be a problem with the cards/drivers simply because they are 2 different chip sets.
My router is a Linksys E1200 HWv1 which worked fine with the PC's I had in the pas but with this one it was a nightmare of disconnects with Skype. My connections were at 144 the highest and 12 the worst scenario which looked to be a 56k modem connection (arrrrg)
I installed the DD-WRT firmware (available for many brands and models) and after I did the upgrade the connection has been fixed at 300mbps I tested the different drivers and I am actually using 16.8.0.6.
My recommendation is upgrade your routers firmware and if not possible change the router to a newer one as I am completely sure that the problem is the router's firmware.

We have identified a similar issue that we expect to be fixed with version 17.0.2. At this time I do not have more details but I will keep you posted as news become available.

Joe: I'm currently using Sony's 7260 driver 16.6.0.8. Will I be able to use this new Intel driver directly or will I have to wait for a Sony Vaio one which might be a while as they sold the computer business.

Joe you have been promising a fix for 6 months. Evidently Intel just doesn't care.

This is totally unacceptable and I feel there is an inherent issue with the Intel 7260 wifi adapter which cannot be fixed. Each issue of a driver update presents different issues. The default driver provided by Microsoft Windows update provides great connection speeds but this is short lived as the adapter eventually becomes slow and unreliable. Further Intel updates appears to reduce the transmission speeds and this appears to be workarounds to improve reliability. Version 17.0.0.0 makes it quite evident that Intel are attempting workarounds to improve reliability at the expense of transmission speed. Not only is download speed reduced from 40+ mbps using the Microsoft Windows default driver, down to 6 mbps using version 17.0.0.0, but the wifi connection speed with the router is shown as 150 mbps rather than 300 mbps with drivers prior to version 17.0.0.0.
The connection speed is improved with driver version 17.0.2 but it is not sustained at 300 mbps but fluctuates between values as low as 11 up to 300. The download speed is still an abysmal 6 mbps and furthermore, downloads of video with Realplayer often result in failure although it appears to be more reliable with the original drivers that are indigenous to Windows 8.1
Intel have failed for months to resolve this issue and as a developer myself, I feel that this is something that may never be resolved - as was the case with other Intel wifi chipsets. My only suggestion for the moment is to demand Intel to replace the 7260 wifi adapters of ALL users to another module of greater reliability. I urge you all to put pressure on Intel or your laptop brand to take this course of action because the problems that exists do not appear to be fixed and new issues appear to crop up with new drivers. It may be arguable that the issues with the 7260 wifi adapter has at least one inherent design or manufacturing fault which warrants recalls and which warrants replacement of a suitable wifi adapter.
Consequently, I will be speaking to people in legal professions regarding the constant failure of Intel to resolve these issues and just issuing workarounds in driver updates which manifests other issues. I urge all of us to constantly make it known how disgruntled with Intel we are, and either demand a speedy response to the issues or demand a replacement wifi adapter. There is an abundance of unhappy and even angry 7260 wifi users on the internet and hopefully people power will be enough for Intel to succumb to what we all deserve.

People,
I am not going to let this rest as I have lost patience with waiting for the issues to be resolved. Rest assured that I will continue to be a nuisance to Intel until a satisfactory solution can be achieved.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7537 with the Intel N 7260 dualband.
On the old driver (16.5.0.3), the internet speed was 60 Mb / s (close to the router), in the second room (one wall on the way) 20Mb / s. Constantly interrupted connections, wireless speed dropped to 11 Mb / s.
With the new driver 17.0.3 from yesterday link is stable, but the internet speed dropped to 20MB / s (0.5 m from the router) and 11Mb a second room
All my other (2PC, 4 phones, tablet, Xbox, TV) devices work with a link stable as a rock.
Edit: I turned off u-apsd. Now conection speed is the same, as on old drivers.

same laptop same issue 1703 = bad drivers .. I have tried everything possible with drivers. all versions and till now the stablest were 16.5.3.6.. while transfers it does try to get to 54 mbps but then in split second returns to 300 . 17.0.3.2 cause my laptop to go into 54mbps suddlent and come back after a few seconds and when in 54mbps there is no data in and out. no internet no access to network items. this dell 7537 is a good laptop but I thin these people made a mistake of using intel. intel widi has issues and refresh rate is too low. I loved the golden old days of broadcomm and antheros and well they always worked out of the box. God know how and who will fix this issue and not to mention Mr Microsoft with horrendous win 8.1. its a night mare. still love in xp for its speed. any ways I am stuck with 16.5..3.6
