I have a brand new Dell Inspiron, which has Intel 3165AC + BT4.2 [802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.2, Dual Band 2.4&5 GHz, 1x1]. The FiOS to my home is up to 100 mbps and when connected via cable this laptop pretty much hits that speed, but on wifi I'm lucky if I get 40 mbps. Other laptops in my home are able to hit 90 on wifi. I've spent hours with Dell tech support...drivers updated, SmartByte removed, power options adjusted, etc. After several hours, they claim that I should not expect higher than 40 mbps with this wireless card because it is 1x1 (single stream). Is that correct, or is there a solution to increase speed? Please help.

Hello JMett
Thank you for posting in the Intel Community.
• Have you already tried a clean installation of the Intel® Wireless driver? See the steps below.
• Is the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 the adapter that came pre-installed on the system?
• You can also try the Advanced Intel® Wireless Adapter Settings (see reference link below).
• Please attach to this thread the TXT file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility
• Steps to save the report:
1. Run the utility.
2. Click on “Scan” to get the scanned system.
3. Once the scan is complete click on “next”.
4. Use the “save” option, save the report to your desktop.
5. To attach a file, you must click the “Attach” option on the bottom left-hand corner of the response box.
