Hi

I'm using Ubunto 23.10 Kernel 6.5.0-14-generic on a HP Elitebook 645 G9.
I replaced the WIFI Card with an Intel AX210.

When booting Ubuntu i find the following errors in the log

sudo dmesg | grep iwl

jbraeuchi, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

We will be more than glad to assist you with this matter.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this scenario, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

Is this a new computer?

Was it working fine before without showing the errors that you are describing?

If yes, when did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this problem?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Hi

it is a new Notebook but I replaced the WIfi-Card with an Intel AX210 due to incompatibilities with my router.
The AX210 works fine, but I'd like to get rid of the error. The error does not happen every time I boot.

Thanks

Hello jbraeuchi, I just receievd an update on this matter.

after revising the case, it is important to mention that there may be a compatibility issue after self-integrating the Intel wireless AX210 card on this AMD system, and the compatibility and limitation depend on the computer manufacturer's design.

As an option, you may consider the following ASPM workaround. A brief introduction about ASPM can be found here: https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/documentation/aspm

The section 'Enabling ASPM with setpci' provides steps to look for the Link Control Register of the PCIe device, and provides an example to disable ASPM:

# Disables ASPM, enables only L0

sudo setpci -s 00:1c.1 0x50.B=0x40

(Notes. The ASPM value will be automatically re-enabled after system reboot.)

You can also try the ASPM workaround by disabling settings related to 'PCIe Power Saving mode' or 'PCIe ASPM (Active State Power Management)' in the BIOS.

If the workaround doesn't work, then please get in contact directly with your system manufacturer for further assistance and to gather the instructions on how to update the BIOS to the latest version:

Hi Albert

thanks for investigating this problem. I know that the AX210 is not on the compatibility-list of the Elitebook 645 G9; but at least it works with my router. I'll try the ASPM settings you mentioned.

What I do not understand is the different behaviour when booting from an USB-Stick (Ubuntu 23.10 Live) vs. booting from the installed Ubuntu. The error does not show up when I boot from an USB-Stick:
