Hi,I have a medion erazer x6815 laptop which uses a Intel centrino n-1030, just wondered if I can get a compatible upgrade that uses 5mhz so that can use my routers 5mhz wireless connection.

Thanks in advance

Tinnaz,

This wireless adapter is single banded and therefore, it will only operate on 2.4GHz as it was designed to operate only on this band. Unfortunately, because of it was designed that way, an upgrade it is not possible as you can confirm here: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/centrino-wireless-n-1030-brief.pdf Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 PRODUCT BRIEF and here as well: http://ark.intel.com/products/59481/Intel-Centrino-Wireless-N-1030-Single-Band Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030, Single Band Specifications

However, it is possible to improve your connectivity, please access this link for further information:

Thanks for the reply, ...... on that note then would it be possible to replace the unit for a duel band ?

Tinnaz,

Technically is possible. Only your computer manufacturer is the one entitled to do so as any other adapter bought outright may not be fully compatible with your system and this may bring more issues than a solution. Your best option is to consult with your http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support Websites for such procedure.

We would like to take this opportunity and inform you that Intel does not support integration which is when the original wireless adapter is replaced by another one. You can take a look at this link for further information on this matter: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005687.html?wapkw=regulatory+information+regarding+hardware+installation Regulatory Information Regarding Hardware Installation or Upgrade as our wireless adapter are not meant to be sold to end-users.
