SSU output is attached. Installation fails for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265. Windows Update had attempted to install and failed, rendering the wireless adapter unusable. Subsequent attempts to repair the installation manually, including by installing WiFi_21.80.2_Driver64_Win10.exe directly as well as using the automated tool, were unsuccessful with the message "A fatal error occurred during installation".

SSU output is attached and key section excerpted below.

Driver I attempted to install both automatically and manually:

Have you tried something like this? If not, try it.

  1. Download both the Wireless and Bluetooth installation packages to the unit.
  2. Disconnect from Internet or completely disable Windows Update.
  3. Uninstall the existing Wireless and Bluetooth packages.
  4. Reboot (keeping Internet disconnected or Windows Update disabled).
  5. Install Bluetooth package (before Wireless).
  6. Install Wireless package (after Bluetooth).
  7. Reconnect Internet or enable Windows Update.
  8. Reboot.
  9. Test.

Hope this helps,
