Hello DonIndallas,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

To assist you effectively, may I know the full model of your adapter? Also, Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Hi Jed,
The adapter is origional to the laptop. This is an older hp that I have dedicated to a specific task. The adapter, if I'm reading the right thing on the screen, is Intel Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150. It's very sad that hp has removed all of the information on this computer, and they aren't responsive to my asking about specific things like the driver for this adapter. Thank you for looking into this.

According to my records, the final package version that contained support for this adapter is v18.40.4. Beginning with v19.0, no drivers were included for this adapter.

As with HP, Intel has removed the driver packages for all discontinued products from their download site. Back when they announced this, I saved away in my archive copies of the driver packages that did retain pertinent drivers. I have made these driver packages available in a share. You can access this share here. Subfolders provide the pertinent driver packages by adapter number.

You need to uninstall any existing driver packages that you have installed. Once they are cleaned out, you can install the pertinent final version.

In future, do not allow Windows Update to install any later package versions. In a perfect world, driver packages would determine that there was no adapter present that it served and simply exit. We don't live in this perfect world; installing later packages can definitely cause issues (sigh!).

Hope this helps,

...S
