how to set up a 5GHz hotspot, what is the approved channel?

I have a dell laptop with Intel AC3165. I bought it in China.

I met some problem when setting a hotspot. According to Intel's guidance, firstly connecting to a 5GHz wifi in an approved channel in specific channel can make 5GHz hotspot available.

Indeed, I managed to do it. In China, I can connect to a wifi in channel 149(5GHz), and then I can set up my hotspot. But now, I came back to London. The common 5g channel here are 36,44,etc which I think are approved in England. But I can not open the hotspots. The error is ‘ the selected network band is not available.’

Is it because that I bought the computer in China, I have to connect to a 5GHz in channel 149 and then use the hotspots function?

Thanks!

Hi Alberto,

Thanks for your reply.

I had read this article thoroughly before I posted my problem. That's why I am eager to know what is the "approved channel in London". I upload the setting. You can have a look.

Ref#"you may use hotspot on 5GHz by connecting to an AP on the approved 5GHz (passive) channels for the country before initializing the hotspot." from that page.

Hello echen120, I just received an update on this matter.

Based on the information showing in the link provided previously, it states: "Note: The Network band option isn't supported and won't show with older generations of Intel® Wireless Adapters. Specifically, the Intel® Wireless 7265 Family (revision C) and earlier."

What we recommend for this type of scenario will be to get in contact directly with the IPS provider and check about regulatory information, and to get in contact directly with the manufacturer of the laptop as well to confirm if they can provide the specific steps to make UK as default country for wireless settings.

You will find additonal details on this topic in the following link:

Any questions, please let me know.
