I'm having an issue with my network card/ wireless card for a couple of days now, and i can't find any solutions.
So for 2 days now, my network card has disapeared. i can't find it on the device manager. It used to be there, but suddendly, my wifi stopped working and since then, i wasn't able to make it work again..
I tried to restore my computer to a previous saving, try to install the latest driver (i took it from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260) without any success.
In my many attempts to fix the problem, i have used the "Lab Detection" provided by intel, but it still wasn't able to detect my network card.
What should i do ? does it mean that my network card is dead ? and thus i should replace it ? or is there anything i can do to make it work again ?
Thanks for your help! This issue has driving me crazy for a long enough time..
The network card was an intel dual band wireless ac 7260 for laptop, and here are the other specs of my computer (in French).
If the adapter is no longer recognized in Windows* Device Manager, but was working before, please check for any recent changes or events that may have triggered this: power outages, installation of new hardware, system updates, etc. If you recall of anything like that, try undoing the change.
Check in the computer BIOS if the Wireless adapter, or any PCIe capability has been disabled.
Try running the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ Intel® Driver Update Utility and check if the adapter is recognized by the tool.
If the adapter is not detected at this point, we would advise you to contact the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm Computer Manufacturer Support so they can determine other possible solutions.
First of all, thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately i can't think of any recent changes, i've tried to uninstall some recent softwares i had installed but i doubt it changes anything.
To be more precise on my problem, just before (~2 days) the adapter was no longer recognized, there were some moments where my computer would not find any available wireless wifi networks, and in those cases, the adapter would appear on the device manager, but with a yellow triangle on it. A simple repair via windows would make it work again. If this information can help you in any way.
I also have tried the Intel Driver Update Utility, but it didn't recognized the adapter.
and lastly, i haven't been able to access the BIOS..., no hints about what keys i have to enter are displayed on my "logo" screen when i start my computer. and the time frame to press it (if there is one) is really short.
I will try again to access the BIOS later in the day, as i have to go, but figured i would tell you more on the current situation.
You can enter the BIOS setup by pressing a specific key combination during POST. If you are not able to find this combination on-screen, you may contact the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm Computer Manufacturer Support so they can provide this information.
Please remember that you would be checking for any option that disables the wireless adapter or the PCIe slots.
Also, your computer may be configured to disable WiFi when a wired connection is detected. Try unplugging the Ethernet cable, reboot the computer and check if the wireless adapter is detected this way.
If the adapter is not detected at all, there may be a hardware problem and checking with the PC manufacturer would be the best option.
