intel wireless 8265 / 8275 iwlwifi not working in linux

Hello Intel.

I use a 8265 / 8275 (rev78) in my laptop huawei matebook x, and the subsystem given by lspci is "Huawei ... Device 3e02". Currently I cannot find a way to make the 8265 work. As a contingency plan, I pluged a usb wireless card, and it works fine. I hope I can get some help here.

These distros have been tried: Arch, Debian, Gentoo, Ubuntu. So the problem should not be distro related.

I've went through https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi en:users:drivers:iwlwifi [Linux Wireless] and https://git.kernel.org/ Kernel.org git repositories , tried firmware/linux-firmare, and iwlwifi/linux-firmware, and have iwlwifi-8265-*.ucode (21,22,27,31) in /lib/firmware. modprobe works fine, and gives no errors. lsmod shows mac80211, cfg80211, iwlwifi, iwlmvm are added to kernel. But the intel wireless 8265 is still not working.

What can I do to fix it?

Please keep in mind that the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 is a recent adapter, supported since Linux Kernel version 4.6. We strongly advise you to update the kernel, or make sure you use a distro meeting this requirement. And for those who have a similar problem, I have not found a way to fix it. I had tried kernel 4.11, and iwlwifi not only 8265-ucode-22 on https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005511.html Linux* Support for Intel® Wireless Adapters , but also 8265-ucode-27 and 8265-ucode-31. I contacted Huawei support before post here, and their final reply is that they don't have a solution for this. So, I will wait for kernel 4.13 and give it a try. Since the problem might be caused by OEM customization, it's better do not count much on it.

Installing the new kernel 4.12 appears to clear up wifi issues (running elementary os loki).

Thank you. I've upgraded the kernel to 4.12.3-1 today, and the wifi works now. (arch linux on huawei matebook x).

Since I upgrade the system on a daily basis, and my script scans all network interfaces automatically, I guest 4.12.3 is the minimum kernel version for this customized hardware to work.
