regarding intel vtune-gui command

Hi,

Naive question wrt vtune installation..

I have downloaded the latest version of intel vtune and installed it on a server. I was able to install the software using install_GUI.sh script which opens up gui. After installation, i am able to see vtune cli and vtune gui version binaries. But, i am unable to see the application gui once i give the command ./vtune-gui. There is no error reported on the screen..but no gui comes. up. My X11 forwarding is working fine as on running xclock or install_GUI.sh script , i am able to see the gui.

The other binary vtune works fine. Can you please point out where to check for error logs or more verbose information to cross-check this issue. Or if you already know the workaround for this, kindly suggest.

Thanks

Hey neutron,

Previously I had faced an issue with X11 forwarding  not working  for  vtune . But I had the an error message as below

./vtune-gui: error while loading shared libraries: libX11-xcb.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

I could solve this by installing the packages mentioned in the below link.

https://medium.com/@ssmak/how-to-fix-puppetteer-error-while-loading-shared-libraries-libx11-xcb-so-1-c1918b75acc3

However your issue in the case might not be exactly same, as you dont have any error messages. I dont use vtune x11 forwarding very much with vtune as I find X11 forwarding to be slower compared to port forwarding.

A solution/workaround that I can provide for your current problem is to use vtune webserver. This launches vtune in a port and the port can be forwarded and easily opened on your host machine. Please find below information on how to use vtune webserver.

Hope this helps
