Thunderbolt 3 problems using windows 11

I have a DELL G7700 Laptop running Windows 11. The software program I am trying to use is WinDV to transfer A/V from my Sony DCR-TVR17 handicam. I have the proper cables and dongles (Apple) to match IEEE port on DVR to Thunderbolt 3 Port on the Laptop. Device manager shows the camera and indicated running OK, TB APP shows Apple devices (Dongles) OK. The program WinDV open OK, the control screen shows transferring, but the screen is BLACK, no audio and no video. My settings in BIOS are all correct and ON for TB, security for TB is OFF so no issues there.

No matter what I have tried, I cannot get the video through the TB port, or, maybe the Intel i7 processor won't work for Generation 10? We know it will not work for Generation 12, Intel has for some reason stopped supporting TB port  (Apple dispute ?)  This program works for Generation 9 and lower, and is supposed to work for Generation 10 and maybe 11 with the work-around of using TB 3 or 4 docking station. Why does my Laptop using TB 3 port seem to work but not allow video and audio transfer using 10th generation i7??

Hello, @Winterhawk84:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

Your consultation related to the manufacturer of the mentioned third-party computer or their other products should be addressed as a reference to the channels listed on the following website:

Carlos, this is looking more and more like an INTEL issue. I just ran the WinDV software on a Dell XPS older desktop running i5 Gen 9 CPU through the firewire cable from my Sony DV camera and it transferred the video perfectly. As I said in first question, this is NOT working with Gen 10 or 11 or 12 Intel processors. What has Intel changed to cause this problem? This is NOT a DELL problem, they merely USE Intel CPU's they don't change how they work. And the 3rd party software works with Gen9 and lower for over 10 years! What has Intel changed to cause this problem? I need answers not referrals please.

Hello, @Winterhawk84:

Thanks for your update.

We need to clarify that Intel provided generic drivers and the third-party developer should provide the drivers that better fit with their products.

Due to this fact, the proper functionality of generic drivers with third-party devices is not guaranteed.

However, your Thunderbolt consultations should be addressed through the channels listed as a reference on the following website:

Best regards,

@CarlosAM_INTEL.

Thank you Carlos, I will contact the Thunderbolt Tech, site you referenced in your latest reply. As for Drivers from the freeware developer, that may never happen because the developer announced long ago that due to so many changes in OS etc. he was no longer able to provide updates. However, this little program is no threat to security of any system as it never installs on the computer.

Carlos, this problem is not resolved yet. I have purchased a Thunderbolt Docking station from Dell. This docking station is reported by several users to successful when using WinDV program as a "work-around" for issues using Intel Generation 10 and 11 CPU's. I am due to receive this TB docking station between March 9th and 11th. As soon as it arrives, I will install it on my Dell G7700 Laptop which runs Windows 11 and has Generation 10 Intel CPU, i7, and reply to this thread with my findings, hopefully success.
