Hello Pwatson, Please let us know if the 82599ES controller is already programmed and you need to read the internal temperature in an OS, or the 82599ES is still being programmed. If you have already found a solution, or have any other questions please let us know. Best regards, Daniel D Intel Customer Support Under Contract to Intel Corporation

Hi Daniel,

actually the Operating System is not an issue as we have the possibility to use all major Operating Systems here. Also, we are not limited to one specific interface if there is any to readout the controller's internal temperature.

The 82599ES is already programmed with the configuration image provided by Intel.

Regards,

Peter

Hello Pwatson, Thank you for the clarification,We will check on this. Please provide the markings from the product label, so we can confirm if this is an Intel Retail version of the adapter. Best regards, Michael L. Intel Customer Support Under Contract to Intel Corporation

Hi Michael,

we are not talking about an adapter card. We are a company designing hardware modules ourselves and in this case using your 82599ES controller.

Peter

Hello, @pwatson:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

Please review the information stated in sections 13.13 and 6.2.9; on pages 999, 1000, 1001, and 229 of the Intel(R) 82599 10 GbE Controller Datasheet document # 331520 that can be found at:

The sections you stated are refering to external ways to measure the temperature. We are looking for an internal thermal sensor like we use on our X540-based products that can be read out by LANconf for example.

Hello, @pwatson:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

It is important to let you know that there is no internal temperature sensor for the 82599. This is the reason for the suggested sections od the 82599 Datasheet on our previous communication.

We hope that this information is useful.

Best regards,

@Mæcenas_INTEL.
