Hello,
I have been running multiple Ubuntu 22.04 machines with E810 XXVDA4 NICs (some of them with two E810 NICs) but recently it has been noticed that in some cases (root cause unknown) we see that NIC does not detect a link when system is rebooted. It is also noted that power cycling the machine with NIC fixes the issue but rebooting the other end does not.
We have been using:
driver: ice
version: 1.10.1.2.2
firmware-version: 3.10 0x8000d29a 1.3106.0
The firmware and driver is being upgraded now, but I would like to know if this was a known issue and fixed with firmware or the driver upgrade.

Hey @Azeem_Intel
Thanks for your reply and follow up. The issue we faced is very hard to reproduce, out of 24 machines running with the NIC we only saw it happen twice in 2 years, we really want to know if this has been seen by others or was a known bug that you guys fixed either in driver or firmware. We have upgraded our firmware and driver but do not feel comfortable using it without knowing if our bug is fixed.
Thank You,
Vivek

Hey @Azeem_Intel
So when the issue happened, I indeed loaded the latest ICE and IAVF drivers but still the link stayed down and was not responsive. Only thing that fixes the issue is a power cycle of the machine or a firmware upgrade using NVMe upgrade util Intel provides.
Thank You,
Vivek Jain

Hey guys, we are still seeing this issue at various sites with 2 Intel NICs, with same 3.10 firmware and 1.10.1.2.2 driver. Is there any known initialization issues to Intel, that were fixed in later releases? This issue only happens when the system is soft rebooted and fixes itself on a cold reboot. Please let me know what logs would be needed.
