I installed the E810-XXVDA4T adapter in a AMD Ryzen Threadripper machine running Ubuntu 22.04. Following the user guide, I have installed the drivers and NVM. After the installation, I am no longer able to access any USB ports. Listing the USB ports gives:
$ lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Anyone else having experienced this?
Checking the driver and NVB versions gives:
$ ethtool -i enp74s0f1np1
driver: ice
version: 6.5.0-18-generic
firmware-version: 4.40 0x8001c96a 1.3534.0
expansion-rom-version:
bus-info: 0000:4a:00.1
supports-statistics: yes
supports-test: yes
supports-eeprom-access: yes
supports-register-dump: yes
supports-priv-flags: yes

Hello jehake,
Thank you for your posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.
Could we know if you already have the latest driver version 29.0 installed?
Have you tried to turn off the system, boot into recovery mode and check if the USB working? Please share with us the kernel version as well.
Regards,
Irwan_Intel

Hi Irwan,
Thanks for the reply.
The keyboard is connected via USB. When booting, I'm able to select recovery mode. But in the recovery menu, the keyboard no longer works. Also, when physically removing the E810 adapter from the PCI slot, the USB ports are working.
The kernel version is 6.5.0-18-generic.
I have the latest version of the driver installed. I followed the instructions in Sec. 3.1 of the E810-XXVDA4T User Guide, by installing the ice driver from source code and updating the NVM. Checking the driver and NVM version gives:
$ethtool -i enp74s0f0np0
driver: ice
version: 1.13.7
firmware-version: 4.40 0x8001c96a 1.3534.0
expansion-rom-version:
bus-info: 0000:4a:00.0
supports-statistics: yes
supports-test: yes
supports-eeprom-access: yes
supports-register-dump: yes
supports-priv-flags: yes

Jan Erik

Hello jehake,
Thanks for the information. Could we also know if you have tried in different slot? It could be a resource issue with the MB.

Hello,
The motherboard has two available slots, one PCIEX8 and one PCIEX16 slot. I have tried both with the same result, but use the PCIEX16 slot as advised in the documentation.

Hello jehake,
This could implies that it is some incompatibility or configuration issue with the MB.
Can I know if you have reached out to the MB manufacturer to see if they have any advice or configuration options that will solve the issue?
There may also be a BIOS update for the MB.
