Hi All
I try to run linnxptp with i210 NIC card, by tutorial, I already modify igb Linux driver source code to generate 1PPS at SDP 0 pin, however, when I run it for IEEE 1588 test, the i210 as master of IEEE 1588, by Scope, we can find the PPS is stable at every 1 second. But if it be the slave of IEEE 1588, the PPS disappear and never show again
After much test and check the driver code, we sure the PPS can't generate when it's become the slave of IEEE 1588, we don' understand why?
===================
System information
OS: Ubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.4.0-26
Linuxptp(The Linux PTP Project )
igb source version: 5.4.16
*figure show we modify part
If have any information need us provide, we will post it later
Thanks every one who give us help

Hello waleslai,
Greetings!
We have checked your concern related to PPS alignment edge with our Internal team and these are their suggestions.
Kindly confirm if this is a LOM I210 or if it is I210-T1 ethernet adapter? also, If it is a LOM design, it’s ok to add an inverter for your applications.
Please contact us back if you have any other queries.
Thank you for using Intel products and services.

We use the I210-T1 ethernet adapter.
Our members already add inverter on I210-T1 ethernet adapter, seems it can meet our requirement.
But we have a question that can we change the PPS edge by config the E1000 register? without inverter
The figure show the our PPS result
i210 PPS(Yellow line)
our DUT PPS(pink line)
We want the Yellow line can use raise edge alignment with us edge

Waleslai

Hello Waleslai,
Greetings!
We have checked this with our internal team and they have suggested that unfortunately, we can’t change PPS edge by config the E1000 register without inverter, however there is a possible way to implement that we reverse the data detection ( 0 <>1 ) by config driver in linux.
