Can't install IP with Megawizard

Ok, I must be doing something wrong...

We have a subscription license. I installed Quartus7.2 and IP7.2 and rebooted. I open a project and open Megawizard. I give the megafunction a name, scroll to IP Megastore, select a Megafuction, click Next. The tool then pops up a window that says, download core, etc. I am unable to complete the Megawizard because the tool doesn't think I have the IP installed, I guess, even though I instlalled the complete IP library.

I have tried multiple IP cores. I get the same result with each one. I know there must be a simple reason for this... I tried this with 7.1 first and got the same result. I also created a new project, same result. I had this issue before when I was 'trying out' an IP core and believe it was resolved by making sure I had a project open. But I have a project open now and I can load any of the Megafunctions in the Instlalled Plug-ins with the Megawizard, but none in the IP megastore. When I look in the install directory all of the IP cores are there.

Hello,

You aren't doing anything wrong, except trying to access IP cores that your license doesn't support..

When you install the complete IP library, you are installing the cores listed as installed plug-ins(i.e. the cores listed under Arithmetic, Communications, etc). The cores within the IP Megastore are all third party cores which a. are not installed as part of the library, b. not included with your altera license, and c. must be received directly via the core vendor.

Hope that helps,

Frank

jdemaine-

I know you said you tried multiple cores and they all behaved the same way. Could you give me one or two specific examples of cores that behaved that way? Are they Altera cores or third party cores?

Also which operating system are you running Quartus II under?

It's any IP core. Altera or 3rd party. I'm trying to get the NCO, buy have tried about all the cores under memory controllers and any other I could find that said Altera.

I even wiped out 7.1 and 7.2 and did a complete new install of 7.1 from the DVD. Now it's even worse. I open the IP MegaStore and some Cores say 7.2 even thought I just installed the complete 7.1 DVD. I look in the control panel and it says I have Megacore IP Library 7.1 (257MB) installed.

I noticed that when I click on IP MegaStore it says downloading... So I disconnected from the network and now I can’t even select the IP MegaStore. How do I get the tool to read the cores that I have installed and not download from the web?

Is there a difference between the IP MegaStore in the MegaWizard and the Megacore IP Library?

Aha!

I knew it was something easy...

When you install the IP library all the Altera IP gets put under the Installed Plug-ins in Megawizard. I was looking in the IP MegaStore... As simple as that... Thanks to my FAE!
