Performance dips with Intel Arc A770 in certain games – optimization tips?

Hey everyone,

I recently upgraded my setup and went with the Intel Arc A770 (16GB) because I’ve seen a lot of promising benchmarks and really wanted to give Intel graphics a shot. Overall, I’m impressed with the performance and image quality—it handles most of my library really well.

That said, I’ve noticed some weird dips in specific titles. For example:

  • Cyberpunk 2077 runs smooth on High settings most of the time, but occasionally stutters when entering dense areas.

  • Warhammer 40K: Darktide sometimes fluctuates between 80–120 FPS on medium-high settings, which makes the experience feel inconsistent.

  • Meanwhile, games like Forza Horizon 5 and Control run flawlessly, even with ray tracing enabled.

I’ve updated to the latest Arc drivers, disabled background apps, and double-checked that Resizable BAR is enabled in BIOS. Still, the inconsistency persists in a few games.

My specs:

  • Intel Core i7-12700K

  • Arc A770 16GB (latest drivers)

  • 32GB DDR5 @ 5600MHz

  • Windows 11 Pro (updated)

Has anyone else run into similar behavior? Are there specific driver settings, optimizations, or Windows tweaks that helped smooth out frame pacing with Arc cards? I’d love to hear what’s working for others.

Thanks in advance!

...nice breakdown of your setup, and solid choice on the A770, it’s a beast when it’s dialed in. I seen the same kind of dips in Cyberpunk and Darktide, so you’re not alone there. A couple of things worth trying > Stick with DX12 where possible, Arc tends to like it way more than DX11. Check frame times with CapFrameX sometimes it’s not raw FPS but frame pacing that feels off

In Arc Control, try per-game profiles instead of global, makes a big difference in some titles. Also make sure Windows Game Mode and HAGS are flipped on in settings.

well those stutters in dense city spots are kinda expected in CP2077, but Darktide’s swings should smooth out with a few tweaks. Do the dips always happen in the same spots, or totally random?
