So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.

You didn't follow the instructions. Read them again, this time all the way to the end.

Regardless, I can answer this. It is not a problem with the graphics engine or with the graphics driver installed. There are many low-end laptops that artificially limit the resolutions (etc.) of external displays to that of the embedded display. It's a restriction that they put in place to push people to purchase their more-expensive laptop models. Unfortunately, I don't know of any good solution for this problem (fat chance of getting the vendors to stop this practice; it's greed, pure and simple).

1. Just to confirm, when you are on extended mode, that is the only time you can adjust the resolution of the external monitor, am I correct?

When on display to external monitor only, that is where you have problems adjusting the resolution, am I right?

2. How is the external monitor connected to your system? Via HDMI, Display Port, etc.?

3. You are using an older version of the graphics driver which you may have downloaded from your laptop’s support page. Most of the time that driver is the best for your system; however, since you are experiencing issues with it, please try to install our latest generic driver, 32.0.101.5972.

4. Do you have either Intel ARC Control or Intel Graphics Command Center installed?

Thank you for your reply. 

1. You are right. When on display to external monitor only, that is where I have problems adjusting the resolution.

2. The external monitor connect to my system Via thunderbolt. 

   Just now,  I also had a try to  connect to my system via HDMI,  it still  did'nt work. 

3.  I installed your latest generic driver, 32.0.101.5972.  But, it's still the same as previous stiuation.

4. Yes, I have Intel ARC Control.

Plesase check it again  taking  the screenshots as the refference.

I believe that the problem here is within the laptop itself. Many laptops improperly prevent external monitors from using resolutions that are above that of the internal display. To test for this possibility, while using the external monitor, disable the internal display and see if you can then change the resolution. Try this first by (a) shutdown (if not already), (b) press power button to start power on, (c) close the lid of the laptop, and (d) wait for signon via external monitor. If that doesn't work, try using Control Panel to disable the internal display and then reboot.

If via either method, you are able to make the adjustment in the resolution, then you know it'd the laptop's fault and you need to contact the laptop vendor for next-steps (if they will even entertain such).
