4:3 game stretches, no maintain aspect ratio in intel hd graphics control panel

so yeah, i'm trying to play a game that has 4:3 resolution, but instead of black border appearing on both sides the game stretches to fill the entire screen. i went into my intel hd graphics control panel to turn on maintain aspect ratio, but i didn't any option for it. all i have is 'center image' and 'maintain display scaling'. i need some help

try changing the resolution in the control panel to a non-native resolution first.. then the maintain aspect ratio should be available

i've tried that already. all that shows up is 'center image'

I believe the best way to go is leaving Intel® HD Graphics settings by default and only change the resolution within the game settings.

there is no option for that in the game's settings, otherwise i would have already tried it

it is a japanese game, called koihime musou. it is interl(r) hd graphics

1, What version of Intel HD Graphics driver are you seeing this issue with?

2. What Intel processor is in your system

3. What is the model of the system you are using?

4. What operating system are you using?

5. What is the model of the display you are using?

6. How is the display connect to the system (HDMI, VGA, DVI, DP)?

I recommend you checking with them as a failed or unsuccessful BIOS update may damage the system without possibility of recovery.
