Hi !
I bought a brand new MSI PE70 6QE with Win10, but for some reasons I decided to install Windows 7 instead.
The problem is that after installing all the last drivers, everything is running well EXCEPT that the computer is unable to run Aero more than 30 minutes. It makes quite mad because my older computer (with an i5 and only 6Go of DDR3) had no problems running it, and now that I bought a good computer (i7-6700HQ and 24Go of DDR4) it doesn't survive to Aero.
It looks like the integrated graphics are not powerfull enought. Can someone help me with my problem? I'd really like to run Aero smoothly on a computer with that configuration !
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my english !

Intel Core i7-6700HQ
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M (2Go)
SSD 500Go + HDD 1To
24Go DDR4

Hi guys ! I'm currently on holidays so I don't have my computer with me. I'll update the bios as soon as I'll be back at home, next week.
Thanks for your help,

Hi all !
I'm back and I've finally updated the BIOS. It hasn't solved the problem. The computeur is still lagging after a few minutes, and instantly if Aero settings are "normal" and not "lowered".
I actually disable some of Aero settings so it works a little bit longer, but at the slightest solicitation, it starts lagging again and Aero is turned off.
Thanks for your help !

Hi WTPThom,
Well There is a new firmware with a simple description: "Fix workaround fan random stop issue" ... So if fan is stopping then the system is overheating and that is a big probability why your system is going slower.
Check is is right for your system and make that firmware update also.

It seems that MSI did some problems on their own ...

Firmware updated.
The problem is still here. The fan was already activating itself, and if not, I have a button to activate it manually. And even with the fan giving all it's got, the computer isn't going faster..
I'm actually lowering Aero settings so it can run under "basic" conditions, but as soon as I'm using Photoshop or Sketchup, goodbye Aero..
But I find it a little bit strange because in the Nvidia Configuration Panel, I've set the global parameter to "Nvidia Graphics", plus those programs too !
Thanks.

I think there is something wrong with driver compatibility. I tested an older gts 8800 on windows 8.1 and windows 10 with a decrypting program. With the same driver on windows 10 I could use only about 16 threads without crashing the driver, and on windows 8.1 I could use 180 threads. The biggest surprise was that on both situations the decrypt time was the same ...
I can reach to a conclusion. I think that nvidia is using the same drivers for all windows versions, and it creates problems. Because if they optimize the drivers for windows 10 on which it seems it runs faster, on windows 7 will run slower. If it runs slower then it will create some problems, like the one you have now with aero ...
In Nvidia Config Panel try to set Internet Explorer to performance. Windows uses Internet Explorer for desktop ...

Thanks for this. Uptade done.
I've tried to set the Aero settings at their maximum, and it started lagging instantly, BUT, I tried one thing that I haven't tried before.. I unplugged my second screen (the Samsung), and it stopped lagging ! I opened 2 Sketchup windows with complex 3D models, it wasn't lagging at all, I replugged the second screen.. Boom, the lag was back !
Unplugged, no lag, plugged, big lag and Aero is turning off !
Do you have an idea of why it's doing this? I guess we're making a good progress on finding the center of the problem !
Edit : I've also put Internet Explorer setting to "Nvidia performance graphics"

I think you should report this to MSI also, it looks like is a power problem. When it uses 2 displays it uses more power. I used both dvi and hdmi outputs on my i7 6700k and I don't have that slow down problem. But on desktop I have more available power to the cpu and graphics.
Send a message with the problem you have with the monitor model you connected, so that they can do some testing, because they can modify some settings in bios, if it is a power problem, to give more power to the gpu or igpu.

Hi all !
I contacted MSI Online support, they asked me to update VBIOS, EC Firmware etc.. I retried everything without resolving the problem. They have tried to replicate my situation with the same computer, but they don't have my problem. So they now think that it's a hardware problem, maybe coming from the HDMI port. They told me to contact the local Support shop. I sent them an email. We'll see !
