Civilization 7

I have a fairly new Lenovo PC desktop with Intel(R) UHD graphics. This game continually crashes although it was running Civ 6 very well. They tell me that the game requires a separate graphics card not the integrated one which I have. Is there a solution such as a way to change settings to game mode?

By toning down the graphics settings, I am now able to run the game but feel slightly cheated that I'm not getting the full experience

The net says that Intel(R) UHD graphics are very good but not good for games. I hope they're wrong.

Hello TonyLetts,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

For me to further check this, please help provide the following details:

  1. What is the complete model of your Graphics controller?
  2. What is the complete model of your processor?
  3. What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

Thanks Michael,

1. Intel(R) UHD Graphics

2. 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1215U 1.20 GHz

3. I've toned down the graphics requirements in the game after which it runs without crashes, but I'd like full graphics

I'm running my PC in 'Game mode'

Having then played it for several hours, I tried the next session with full graphics and so far so good, but I'm worried this might not last

Cheers,

Tony

Hello TonyLetts,

Thank you for reaching out to us. To clarify, Intel UHD Graphics are integrated graphics processors (iGPUs) that share memory with the system's RAM. This shared memory can limit performance in graphics-intensive applications, such as certain games that require a discrete graphics card.

For example, games like Civilization 7 specify discrete graphics cards as a minimum requirement due to their high demand for dedicated graphics processing power. Discrete GPUs have their own dedicated memory, known as VRAM, which is specifically designed to handle the intensive graphics demands of such games.

To assist you further, could you please provide a screenshot of your current display and graphics settings for the game? It would be helpful to see both the current settings and the ones you wish to apply. Additionally, could you let me know where you downloaded the game from? If possible, please include the download link as well.

Hello TonyLetts,

Since I haven't received a response from you, I will be closing this inquiry. However, I want to remind you that Civilization 7 requires a discrete graphics card as a minimum requirement. This means you will need to lower the game settings to play, which may not provide the same experience as Civilization 6. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to create a new thread, as this one will no longer be monitored.
