Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered

Hi. I know this question has been asked many times, but many are unanswered. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, Window 7 64 bit. Just yesterday, my laptop kept blacking out, freezes and then unfreeze and this message would pop up saying, "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows XP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." It keeps happening around every 15-30 minutes. Sometimes, it totally blacks out. Other times, it unfreeze but the windows are blank. Someone please help me. The display adapter I have is Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family." Some people said online to update it and that might fix the problem. I went to the Intel website and updated the lastest one given, but the problem is still here. I've restored my laptop to a certain restore point, but still did not solve the problem. Suggestions and ideas? Thank you a head of time.

Hi Nic,

So my computer didn't like the driver you gave me. I attempted to install it and it came up with a window that said: "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will exit."

Any other suggestions?

@LadyThyme: you will want to download the .zip version of the file and use the "Have Disk" method. The link to the .zip for that driver is here;https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22520&lang=eng Download Center

The guide for the have disk method is here; http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033915.htm Graphics — How to update graphics driver for Microsoft Windows 7*

@Ashwini: Try this driver; https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22165&lang=eng Download Center

Hi nic,

I installed the driver. Now whenever I try to play any game, even Solitaire, I am getting error.

"The game is running in software rendering mode"

Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by video card driver, which could slow game performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on.

Please Help.

@Broten: I would recommend updating your BIOS and if that does not work, update your drivers using the ones provided by your OEM. What is the full model number of your laptop? Toshiba* Satellite P505-????

@Ashwini: Try doing a full uninstall of the graphics driver. You can find instructions for how to do that in the Readme.txt file that came with your graphics driver download. Afterwards, perform a re-install of the driver using the have-disk method outlined on this page; http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033915.htm Graphics — How to update graphics driver for Microsoft Windows 7*

Let me know if after performing these two processes you are still experiencing the same issue or not.

Thanks,

-Nic

@Broten: Try installing this BIOS update. I'm unsure which one you currently have installed (DxDiag is not displaying install date). http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=2441113 Satellite P505-S8980 Support | Toshiba

Satellite P505-S8980 | Toshiba

Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows XP (R) stopped responding then it successfully recovers and a few moments later completely crashes anything that i have up. I Use Windows 7 and I have tried updating my BIOS & Removed and installed the original Graphics card driver back onto the laptop & did everything else you have said earlier. It is doing the same thing it was doing before.

Resending my DxDiag:

@Broten: You may need to use the driver provided by your OEM. The drivers we provide are generic, and are not customized to work with your specific system. If your OEM has placed any customization on the functionality of the driver, you will need to try using theirs and see if the problem is resolved. A direct download link for the OEM driver for your system can be found here; http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_video_intel_TC70056000B.exe http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_video_intel_TC70056000B.exe

@SaaS: There are links within that document, one for each supported operating system. Choose which one matches the OS you are using, and follow the directions within. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you,

-Nic
