DisplayPort Monitor Keeps Waking Up From Power Save Mode

I'm using G4560 processor and Gigabyte Z270N Gaming 5 motherboard. I have a Dell U2410 monitor which is connected via displayPort to displayPort cable. When I use any HD 610 grahics driver from Intel site, my monitor keeps waking up from power save mode then immediately goes back into power save mode again and the process keeps repeating itself. I also have Samsung HDMI monitor connected that does not exhibit this behaviour. The Dell monitor behaves normally and does not keep waking up if I use the driver 23.20.16.4973 which windows automatically installs. Is there any reason for this? Thanks in advance.

Hello maklabouhlel,

Thank you for your response.

Please follow the steps below to attempt to address the problem and see if it is a problem with the generic drivers you are using or not:

1 - Download the driver from: https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-Z270N-Gaming-5-rev-10# support-dl-driver-vga https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-Z270N-Gaming-5-rev-10# support-dl-driver-vga ( *Please be aware that the content on that site is not controlled by Intel*. This information is offered for your convenience and should not be viewed as an endorsement by Intel* for the merchants or services offered there.*)

2 - Disconnect the computer from the internet.

3 - Go to device manager and check under display adapters.

4 - Right-click on the Intel ® Integrated Graphics, select the option uninstall and keep going until you only have Microsoft's basic display adapter.

5 - Unzip the file you downloaded previously (If applicable).

6 - Right-click on the Microsoft's basic display adapter and select "Update driver".

7 - Select the option "Browse my computer for driver software.

8 - Select the option "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

9 - Select the option "Have disk".

10 - Select the option "Browse".

11 - Access the designated location or folder where you unzipped the driver downloaded and access a folder called "Graphics".

12 - Select the setup information file (Typically named either "idglh64" or "igdlh").

13 - Click on open and then click OK, finally click Next and the drivers will begin to install.

14 - Reboot your computer when the installation is completed.

After you are done with the steps, please try to see if the issue persists. Let me know the outcome.

I tried that but to no avail. I found thishttps://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukdhs1/sln302648/dell-u2410-monitor-enters-power-save-mode-and-then-back-to-blue-power-led-constantly?lang=en article from Dell which explains the issue very well. What I don't understand is that this behaviour does not occur when I use Intel display driver 23.20.16.4973 but occurs with every other Intel display driver. The 23.20.16.4973 Intel display driver is the one my computer automatically downloads from Windows update. This is confusing because Dell says it's a Dell monitor driver issue but my problem is resolved with display driver 23.20.16.4973.

Hello maklabouhlel,

Thank you for your response.

I appreciate the feedback you have provided regarding the monitor. In this case this means that the monitor may give you this kind of issues when using Windows* 10 regardless of the system connected.

If the driver version you have mentioned is working properly then I would recommend you to stay with that one and update if you run into any graphics problem; which would be doubtful because even though that version is not the latest one, it is a stable version that should not give you issues.

If you do not wish to stay with that version of driver then in this case it would be best to follow the instructions notated in that article you provided.
