Forza Horizon 5 stuck on optimizing and unstable FPS with Intel iGPU

Hello,

I would like to report an issue with Forza Horizon 5 after updating my system. The game used to run perfectly fine before, running at a stable 58–61 FPS at 720p 60Hz. However, now I am facing two major problems:

1. When launching the game, the "Optimizing for your PC" screen takes an extremely long time (up to 30 minutes), while before it never lasted more than a minute.
2. With the same graphics settings I used before (720p, 60Hz), performance is now very unstable. FPS drops are very noticeable, sometimes going down to 5–6 FPS, and often the frame rate locks at 32 FPS, even though I selected 60 FPS in the settings.

This started happening after:
Updating from Windows 23H2 to 24H2
Updating the BIOS to version 1.23.2
Updating the Intel graphics driver to 32.0.101.6989 (clean install)

Fortnite was fixed after those updates, but Forza Horizon 5 is now unplayable due to the issues above.

Thank for your help,
Sianeli

Hi Sianeli,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the performance issues you're experiencing with Forza Horizon 5 after updating your system. I understand how frustrating it can be when a game that previously ran smoothly becomes unplayable, and I'm here to assist you in resolving this matter.

To better understand the situation, could you please provide any crash logs or event viewer logs related to the issue? These logs can offer valuable insights into what might be causing the problem. Additionally, if you're comfortable doing so, you can use the Intel System Support Utility (SSU) to gather detailed system information. If you're not comfortable generating an SSU report, please provide the following details:

  1. System model (Laptop or Desktop)
  2. CPU model
  3. Troubleshooting steps, you've already taken

I recommend updating to the latest driver version 32.0.101.7026, which you can download from the following link: Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics Driver. Additionally, performing a clean install using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) can help resolve any driver-related issues. You can find DDU instructions here: DDU Instructions.

Also, if possible, please share a screenshot of the error or any unusual behavior you're encountering.

For faster communication and assistance, I am available for a phone call. Please let me know a convenient time for you, and I'll ensure we connect promptly to discuss the issue further.

Your cooperation in providing this information is greatly appreciated, and it will help us assist you more effectively. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Best regards,
