How to align "Active" and "Desktop" resolutions on UHD Graphics 630

Hi

How can I force the "Active signal resolution" to align with the "Desktop signal resolution?

I'm on a Win 11 Pro PC with an i7-8700 CPU and Intel® UHD Graphics 630 GPU using a Philips 345E2 monitor.  This monitors does allow you to connect two sources ans split the screen between them. The recommendation is to then set each source to 1720 x 1440, half of the maximum 3440 x 1440 resolution for this monitor.

This works on my other PC but on this one the "Active signal resolution" stays at 3440 x 1440 no mater what resolution I select for it. Only the "Desktop signal resolution" is changed and only half or less of the available screen area is used.

Some of the things I have tried so far:

1. To update windows and all drivers

2. To update the drivers for the Intel UHD Graphics 630 display adapter and the Philips 345E2AE monitor to Intel and Philips own recommended drivers.

3. To use "Advaced Settings" for the Display adaptor, - even toggling it back and fourth.

4. Download, install and check using Intel control centre and Philips device managers. Both say the monitor support the 1720 x 1440 resolution but . . .

Think I have found a solution ! ! !

I stumbled upon an old beta version of the "Intel Graphics Control Center" that has a few more controls. Playing around with it I got the "Active signal resolution" following the "Desktop signal resolution, - problem solved!

In case anybody else has this problem this is what I did.

1. Open the "Microsoft Store" Marningert_0-1738837055411.png

2. Search for Intel Graphics Control Center"

3. Select and install the (Beta) version of it (ignoring warnings that it's not maintained or updated).

4 Open the tool, select "Display" on the left hand menu, then select select which display if needed.

--- Not sure if all of this is needed but this is what I did then ---

5. Set the resolution to the one "Recommended", in my case 3440 x 1440

6. Set the "Maintain Display Scaling" to custom and play with the handles on the left.

7. Reset the scaling to "Maintain Display Scaling"

8. Set the Resolution value to what you need, in my case 1720 x 1440

The "Active signal resolution" was now set to this value !
