I have Windows 8 and Intel HD 4000 graphics. The driver version is 9.17.10.2867. When I try to play a game in full screen it freezes my whole computer. Does anyone else have this problem? And is there a way to fix it?

If You look posts in this topic, You find many hardware configuration (generaly MoBo, BIOS, drivers) and the same problem - freezing games in fullscreen with Intel (or OEM) drivers in version 9.17.10.xxxx and Intel HD 4000 graphic.

In my opinion problem is in Intel drivers or their cooperation with DirectX or OpenGL files. It must be some improvement or new feature give in drivers 9.17.10.xxxx...

I experimented with some Skyrim Settings and apparently the game does not freeze when i am playing in 4:3 and window mode. Can somebody explain that?

Edit: During my first session Skyrim didn't freeze for 5 hours, but now i restarted the game and it froze again, same settings.

Hi tomok. I see in that list that you didn't mention whether you tried the VGA driver provided by your OEM yet. It's on that same page; http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Pro3/?cat=Download&os=Win764 http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Pro3/?cat=Download&os=Win764

Can you give that a try and let me know?

Thanks,

-Nic

Hi Ertugrul! Thank you for providing that information and the video. I have some questions for you real quick;

1. What is the make/model your system? If it's a built machine can you provide the make/model of your motherboard please?

2. Can you try and install our latest driver for your system and let me know if it resolves your issue? Here's the link; http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22375&lang=eng

Let me know how it goes.

I have the last version - 1.50. The problem is not fixed.

I'm pretty sure, that 1.9 is the latest bios provided by ASrock, but don't count on it. Btw, best solution for this problem is just to buy a graphics card, no matter which one, just dont use the hd graphics 4000. Even an old NVidia Geforce 8600GT worked better for me than intels chip.

Hallo there! I 've been trough this problem. And I might have a solution for you.

My configuration:

Processor: i7 3770

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-M

RAM: 4x8GB A-DATA 1600 MHz

Windows 7 64x Ultimate

Latest video driver for Intel HD 4000

Latest BIOS

I had the same problem. My system did freeze every 5 minutes. I tried to change all parts in my system. I've tried with different RAM, with i3 processor with Intel HD 3000, with another OS. I even tried to change the power supply. At last I thought that there is some sort of incompatibility with the motherboard. I took a Gigabyte z77 and everything worked perfect. But the ASUS motherboard was fine too. It was tested and there was no problem in it. And the actual problem was a default setting in BIOS. The processor and RAM were not synchronized. They were set to work at ratio 100:133. And every time the processor went in turbo boost mod the result was this "freezing". Now the ratio is set by 100:100 and everything works fine 24/7.

This ratio is called "CPU Bus speed : DRAM speed ratio mode" it is under the tab called Ai Tweaker. In my case there warethree oprions to chose Auto, 100:133 and 100:100. It was set to 100:133 by default. This means when the CPU uses 100% of its frequency the RAM should use 133% of its frequency. This is possible when the RAM is with higher frequency then mine. And in my case I should set this ratio at 100:100. So when the CPU reaches its max speed the RAM will reach its max too. My RAM works now at lower frequence and it works at 1600 MHz when the CPU goes in Turbo Boost mode. The problem was that my RAM can not work at higher frequency then 1600 MHz and it caused errors when it was forced to overclock its speed with 33%.

I hope my experience could be helpful to somebody.

P.S. Sorry for my English.

@Radoslav Vasilev Do you have any idea what this might be on an ASRock motherboard? The BIOSes of ASRock and Asus are very similar, but ASRock seems to be missing this particular option.

Thanks.

This option should be in tab called OC Tweaker in ASRock's BIOS. I haven't seen ASRock's BIOS and its options. But there should be option to cahnge the ratio between CPU, RAM, GPU. Yesterday I had a talk with ASRock's owner. He had the same problem but his solution was not the same. He told me, he had to change the parameter "iGPU Violtage Offset" in Tab "OC Tweaker". May be you should take a look what are the settings in your BIOS. If you have some auto tweak options you can try to use them.

Greetings!

Good time, it helped me:

OC Tweaker - iGPU Voltage Offset = (+100 mV)

Problem solved, but I do not know what is responsible for this parameter. All other settings except the memory timings - by default. I do not know how long it will work. 2 days until there is no problem. (3D Mark 2006, he worked 8 hours without freezing. Now playing Fallaut3 (1920x1080 medium quality).

[P.S.] I speak English very bad.

PC freezes again yesterday while playing Fallout 3. After I did a test 3D Mark 2006 - 25 cycles - all right. How can this be? I will continue to look for the problem. Tell whether the new releases drivers for HD4000? or not to hope for it?

Thanks.

18-02-2013 put the settings on here are:

manually in North brodge -> iGPU share memory = auto replaced by 1024 (max).

The third day I test in OCCT - as seen hanging in his tests, while tests 3dmark 2006 to go. Today is Day 3 of "night tests" are the results (I do not know whether all the graphs normally, confuse Vin 4, but by itself taking tests without errors and freezes)
