Intel HD 620 and HDR Support on Windows

Hello, I have a ZOTAC ZBOX-CI547 (i5-7200U & HD 620) that is connected to a Samsung UE55MU7005 (UHD HDR TV). I have latest Windows insider preview (17666) and latest Intel graphic drivers (24.20.100.6025). Also, I have a high quality HDMI 2.0b Cable and UHD Color option activated on my Samsung TV. The issue is that DxDiag is not detecting my monitor as an Advanced Color capable so HDR option is not available.

Where is the issue?? What can I try now?

- Regarding ZOTAC support:

- I need confirmation also from ZOTAC regarding LSPCon. Is a way to check it manually?

Can I upgrade manually Intel ME and SGX and do not wait for a BIOS release?

I am still waiting an answer from Zotac support team regarding LSPCon chip.

In relation with Intel Management Engine, that one on Zotac server is old (11.6) but I figure out how to install 11.7; Unfortunately problem was not solved, so I tried with latest version 1811.12.0.1115, also on this case, problem was not solved.

But I have a doubt regarding this Intel Management Engine... according HDR whitepaper you shared with me, what is requested is 11.7 (and above) Intel Management Engine FIRMWARE...

So, how this software is related? Because I checked my BIOS after updating to latest version and it keeps Intel ME FW 11.6

Is there a way to update Intel ME FW manually to 11.7 or 1811.12?

In the other hand, Intel SGX is also a Firmware not a Software to update in Windows, right?

Allow me to mention that the only Intel® Management Engine update you should install on your system, is the one provided by Zotac* and not 3rd party ones. Furthermore, the Intel® SGX can be updated through Windows*.If your manufacturer does not provide these updates, the system might not be validated for HDR.Antony S.

Yes, this ZBOX is claiming to be HDMI 2.0.However, certain low level features under the HDMI 2.0 spec, Eg, HDCP 2.2 (High Definition Content Protection Version 2.2) is not yet realized at the HDMI output.We are working with intel on how this can be fix.[2] HDR (High Dynamic Range) ?The intel Kabylake Class Processor Graphic (HD Graphic 620 / 630) are supposed to be capable of HDR (High Dynamic Range).But the information and the low level chipset Firmware provided by intel, at the time when the ZBOX was designed at early 2017, were not yet capable of HDR.We are working with intel on how this can be achieve, via Firmware Update / BIOS Update, or whatever changes.[3] Intel ME (Management Engine Code) Version ?This is a "must change" area, not only for the targeted HDMI output functions, but also compulsory for fixing the intel Security / Vulnerability issue."ME update" for this ZBOX is on the software engineer's job list, hopefully, new BIOS will be released with update ME soon.[4] Intel Security Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) ?Yes, SGX is already supported on the current shipment BIOS.SGX is a CMOS selection item, under the CPU settings (Default = Disabled), this can be change to Enable in the CMOS Setup.SGX Runtime Library Package (software driver) is available for public download from the internet.[5] LSPCon support (for HDMI 2.0a) ?This is not relavent on the ZBOX-CI547.Unlike the Intel's NUC (Mini PC), the ZBOX-CI547 use some other components at the HDMI output circuitry."LSPCon Firmware Update" is not applicable, and not relavent, for the ZBOX-CI547.I expect, all above questions are aiming at the target : to play 4K UltraHD Bluray Movie Disk on the ZBOX.This is exactly the same target that our Design Team is now working hard to achieve.Will keep you informed, when we come up with a definite progress.

The intel ME Security / Vulnerability / Spectre patch are also implemented on these BIOS.

These BIOS had passed our internal validation test, and will become the next mass production (shipment) BIOS for these ZBOX.

HDR is achieve by a "Firmware Update" at the LSPCON (DP to HDMI Bridge).

As I said, I couldn´t make it work yet. I applied new BIOS containing INTEL ME FW 11.8.50.3425, and also LSPCON FW Update (0x24) but unfortunately issue still persists.

- Windows are not showing me option to activate HDR

- DxDiag says that:

* Monitor Capabilities: HDR Supported (BT2020RGB BT2020YCC Eotf2084Supported )

* Advanced Color: Not Supported

* HDR Support: Not Supported

Main issue I think is related with Advanced Color features in Windows/DxDiag/Intel Drivers/etc --> I have Deep Color function active on my Samsung HDR TV so issue is not in here! (no problems with PS4 Pro so far either).

According Intel HDR Whitepaper now I should be compatible with Local HDR Video Files & HDR Windows Content:

It´s in Spanish but I think is easy to get, I will translate issues.

The point is, I am having three issues being reported:

- Intel SGX technology (CPU/Motherboard) -- Not Available --> I have it enabled on BIOS as 'Software Controlled'. I read that maybe I need to put it as 'Enabled' in BIOS to get a PASS in this Test. I will try it today. Then I will have to re-install drivers, according to what I read.

- HDCP 2.2 (GPU/Screen) -- Not Available --> My computer is HDCP 2.2 capable and also my Samsung UHD HDR TV; I don´t know where is the issue in here. I´ve bought another HDMI certified cable from a different vendor just to check. I read that this HDCP 2.2 sometimes files because of a wrong handshaking between devices... even they support it! As always Consumers suffering the anti-piracy 'useless' methods...

- No UHD-BD unit --> No issues in here, I really do not have this unit.

I have run some tests at our labs using an https://ark.intel.com/products/95066/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC7i3BNH Intel® NUC7i3BNH which has an Intel® HD Graphics 620 controller. By using an HDMI* 2.0 to HDMI* 2.0 cable, latest Intel® HD Graphics 620 graphics drivers (6194) and set a resolution of 3840x2160@60Hz, I was able to set HDR through Windows*.The graphics controller is capable of achieving the configuration that you are looking for. Please make sure your Zotac* unit has HDMI* 2.0a and meets the requirements as per the HDR whitepaper attached previously on this thread.Antony S.

Thanks for your answer but unfortunately I cannot get any usefull information from it. Which screen did you use? Which firmware had it? Which Windows 10 build? Which MEI Driver and Firmware? Which Intel SGX? Which LSPCON Chipset & FW version? Which HDMI Cable? That´s all my variables, That´s all the info I am handling at this point...

As I already said, my Zotac is fulfiling HDR whitepaper.

I think there are some issues between my TV and Intel Drivers&Windows10 as you can see on attached image from Cyberlink tool.

Please make sure you (Intel) maintain that document updated because I am totally sure there are some incompatibilities along Windows builds, Intel Graphics Drivers, Intel MEI Driver, Intel ME Firmware, Intel SGX version, Display LSPCON firmware and so...!

I can assure you my hardware is fulfilling HDR requirements. But Software, Firmware, Bios, and OS is a total mess handling it!
