Intel NUC Skylake screen turns off in 4k

Hello,

since the new Windows 10 Version 1703 / Build 15063 my 4k-display turns off when I click on anyting on the screen (or only scroll on a website). I can solve the problem by going in standby mode and boot again. After like the 8-10 boot it happens again.

Today I installed the newest graphics driver and it got even worse. I use 1080p now because the sceen turns off the hole time and I can't fix it by going in standby.

regards

fabi

fabih1: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Graphics communities.

In order to try to fix this problem we just need to verify a few details:

What is the specific model of the NUC?

Which video port are you using?

Was the NUC working fine before with 4K resolution?

Did you test it on a different TV or monitor?

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto R

I just clean installed windows and the screen started already turning off at the windows user account setup process

I always download from here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/de/product/88358/Intel-Iris-Graphics-540-for-6th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors Downloads für Intel® Iris™ Grafik 540

But 4664 didn't work as well, just tried it.

fabih1: Thank you for sharing those results.

Do you have the option to use the NUC with a different TV or monitor?

Do you have the chance to use another display port cable, or to use the HDMI port?

We can also try a BIOS update using the F7 method, on the link below you will find the instructions of how to do it and the file needed, version 0061 latest:

Bios is on 0061.

I don't have a secound 4k screen, just 1080p and 1080p is running well on my 4k screen as well, even 1440p@60Hz.

The HDMI Port on the Intel NUC is 1.4b. So I can only try 2140p@30Hz but I have no problems with 30Hz on displayport.. it's only 2140@60Hz

(is it important to download the graphics driver extra for the NUC? When I search for "540", I get a newer version)

Fabi

fabih1: Thank you very much for that information.

Since the processor on the NUC works with Intel® Iris™ Graphics 540 we can try to install driver version 4678, the latest version for that graphics controller:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26836/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=88358 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26836/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=88358

Also, even thought it was working fine before, for testing purposes, to try a different display port cable will be a good option as well.

Additionally, on the link below you will find the instructions of how to roll back the Windows update, since you mentioned the problem started right after the update, this might be a good step to try:

Hi,

I'm use 1440p now, until I buy a new PC when Cannonlake is out.

Ubuntu works with 2140p so it seems like it's not the cable. I don't have a secound cable to try and don't want to buy one just for testing.

fabih1: Thank you very much for providing those details. Perfect, we completely understand, as you mentioned since it is working with Ubuntu that indicates that the cable seems to be working fine.

Any further questions, please let me know.
