Intel UHD Graphic 770 , but 10 bit not available

Hello,

I have the Alder Lake i7-12700K on a Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 Mainboard.
Newest drivers on Windows 11.
Connected via HDMI to a LG 31MU97Z-B Monitor.
The monitor supports 4K and 10 bit.

The Intel Graphics Command Center only shows me 8 bit.
But not 10 bit.

I tried to use another cable, but the same problem.

Is there any idea?

Thanks!

Hello Chris-K,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.

2. Provide the Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005848/graphics.html

3. Were the configurations 10-bit and 4K working before with this computer?

4. Can you take a picture from the Intel® Graphics Command Center (Intel® GCC) where we can see the "bits" settings?

Hello Chris-K,

Thanks for your patience. Based on the research I would like you to try the following:

1. Check if the monitor has the latest firmware

2. Update the graphics driver to version 30.0.101.1002 (Gigabyte) if it does not work, update it to version 30.0.101.1191.

3. Check for these steps:

  • Enable HDR (High Dynamic Range) and WCG (Wide Color Gamut) in the operating systems for higher color depths by going to Windows > Display settings > Windows HD Color. If the content you're trying to view is 10-bit, switch to Full-Screen mode, and the driver will automatically switch to the higher color depth, given HDR and WCC are enabled.

4. Can you change to format YCbCr mode?

5. Confirm if the TV menu has an option similar to enabling Deep Color or YCbCr.

6. Check the Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings in Windows to confirm if the video mode is enabled by the Display

Hello Deivid,

I checked 1, 2, 4 and 5. I think this is okay.
Number 3 is not posible. I have no option to set to HDR.

I read the Windows 11 information about the HDR setting. They said that you will need Display Port 1.4 or HDMI 2.X for HDR.
But my monitor only has DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.X

So my final idea is, that the monitor is the problem here.
I don't understand why, because 10 bit is not the same than HDR.
LG wrote me that the 10 bit is a thing that the driver of the grapic card has to do. But they are not talking about HDR.

Do you know it the graphic driver need HDR enabled to use the 10 bit?

Thank you!
Chris

Hello Chris-K,

Thanks for your response. In this case, our drivers are compatible with HDR technology. However, not sure if is needed HDR to be able to enable the 10 bit.

Also, let me know if you were able to perform the steps (except step 3) and what were the results.
