Hello.
I am running a Compaq PC that came with Vista pre installed. I looked at my product specifications and noticed that my computer comes with the Intel 945GC chipset, but I receive updates for the Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family via Windows Update. Which chipset is installed on my computer then, the Intel 945G or 945GC?
I was also reading the Windows Team Blog on the Microsoft website and saw a wide variety of examples of Display drivers in Vista tested for Windows 7. I noticed that the i945G Display chipset was tested but I did not see the i945GC anywhere on the list. I plan to buy Windows 7 when it released later this year, but I wanted to make sure, are two chipsets are the same thing and the same family?
Thanks,
Evandela

Hi Evandela
There are someslight differences between the chipsets.
There are several pages in the datasheet that refer to 945GC. Checkout Pg 15, 17 and 24 to start.
The FSB support is different and also the Max memory.
Please see this data sheet as it details the differences.

My Vista is saying the drivers for 82945G chipset, which I just downloaded, are NOT compatible with Vista... Your site says it will work, but Vista will not let me install... Is there a work-around?

Is your system an OEM system such as Dell or HP?
