Like described in the subject, the end of the installation is reported as successful, but Driver & Support Assistant lists as "Installation failed with error code 1000"
Tried twice, same outcome.

In any event, I just followed someone's suggestion to ignore that specific driver and it somewhat solved the issue.

Today, 2025-07-24, I installed the new Intel NPU Driver but it produces error code 1000 immediately after my computer reboots. I tried reinstalling one more time with the same result. Also, the Intel Driver and Support Assistant keeps flagging the NPU as not installed.
My computer has an Intel Core Ultra 9 285k processor, ASUS ROG Maximus Apex Z890 motherboard, and I am running the latest Windows 11 with all the most recent updates applied.
About a week ago I was prompted to install the previous version of the NPU Driver and it was successfully installed the first time I tried.

Same error. 285k on a MSI z890 tomahawk. Running latest and fully updated W11.
Tried to install, reinstall and clean install it. Nothing works apparently.

Same error on ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX. The issue is very wird, because the driver is already installed, but the manager says no.
And the updater points to the exact same version.
So here we are:
4 failures (1000 and 1006 error codes) for a driver that is installed in my OS, and the updater trying to install the exact same version into an infinite loop.
PD: Version 32.0.100.4082 had no issues when installing.

Hello PhugoidEffect,
Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.
It appears that you're having installation issues on NPU driver with Intel Driver & Support Assistant. To further troubleshoot the issue, kindly try to download the driver manually here -Intel® NPU Driver - Windows*
If you continue to observe the same issue, please let me know so we can further investigate.
Best regards

I did that already without success. In addition I have removed all NPU drivers, installed npu_win_32.0.100.4082 and the new version afterwards, without success.

Hello JedG_Intel. The driver is installed successfully (downloading the installer or using the assistant), but the assistant says the opposite. Please take a look at this:
As you can see, my PC already has the version 32.0.100.4181, but the assistant says that the installation fails:
And it also points to update it to the exact same version:
So, if it's installed, the issue is with the support assistant that cannot recognize the installed driver, or the driver is corrupt (i don't put my money on this).

Hi Jed G,
I downloaded the driver from the Intel website and manually installed it with the same result. Not knowing how important this driver is for the proper functioning of my computer I also downloaded the previous version (4082). After (4181) manual installation failed I manually forced the installation of (4082) and it was successful.
By the way, both failed installations of (4181) also generated messages in the Windows Events viewer:
Kernel-EventTracing, event ID: 2, Session "WindowsUpdate_trace_log" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035.
Hope this helps you solve this problem.

Just like everyone else have reported, I have the very same issues. This is clearly a problem within the verification of the Assistant. The driver is installed just fine, a proof of that is the fact that when we try to reinstall, the installer detects it as Repair installation. Please advise the developers to take a look at the routine that verifies whether or not the installation has succeeded.
Thank you for your kind support.

I'm suffering this error too. It's very obviously a bug in this version as many people are suffering the same issue with many different configurations.
Please fix it for us!!!

Same problem as all others.
Both install methods result in Error 1006 or 1000 with ISDA reporting new driver available afterwards. Device manager indicates the driver was successfully updated.
Reinstall attempts permit "Repair" which indicates successful repair, only for the problem repeat.

ditto result: driver details show driver present
ditto result: assistant keeps telling me I need to install (again)
ditto result: install program shows "repair"
ditto diagnosis from my POV: it is dsa failure to recognize completed install
gear: surrface pro 11 intel edition
functional impact: to be honest I have NO idea yet what an npu driver is supposed to be doing for me but I am trying to learn

Hello, same error here. I noticed that when I was trying (repeatedly) to install the drivers, there was the following msg. Of course, there was no other installation going on, and I restarted numerous times too. It seems there is a generic issue/bug with those drivers. Let's hope they will solve and update soon.
