Hello jeroompje,

Based on your description, I recommend you doing the following steps:

  1. Clear the CMOS on your computer by removing the batter for about 20-30 minutes.
  2. Download and install our latest driver at the following link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22842&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20(64-bit)*&DownloadType=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09Drivers%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09

  1. Test the computer with single display.

If issue persist please post your dxdiag report here.

Hello jeroompje,

Based on your dxdiag report you are using another driver version not from Intel®. Please try this driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22842&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20(64-bit)*&DownloadType=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09Drivers%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09

In case that issue persists, I recommend you updating the Bios in your motherboard.

btw, i'm an it pro, not an end-user.

Hi jeroompje,

I have tested the driver from our side using different systems with a graphics controller HD 4600 and I was not able to replicate the issue. At this point, I recommend you trying with a fresh installation of the operating system and also testing another processor with the same graphics controller.

We came up with a new driver last week and I am not sure if you have tried. Just in case here you have the link:

Kevin,

i did a clean install of windows 8 with intel graphics driver 9.18.10.3257

same results.

i'm using the intel i7-4770k proc.

not able to test on other haswell procs.

the issue is windows related and not haswell or intel specific:

- it occurs with windows 7 and 8

- with haswell, sandybridge and older chipsets/cpu's

- it occurs with build-in intel video graphics and discrete ati video boards.

in all those instances the issue is with 2 displays in clone-mode: monitor connected on vga or dvi and tv connected by hdmi.

when not in clone-mode, the issue disappears...

Kevin,

how to tackle it definitive?

Hi jeroompje & Isak,

I would like just to confirm with you if you have tested a different monitor?

Let me Know.

Isak, can you also post your dxdiag report here and if possible your graphics report?

I have not tried with a different TV.

This works with AMD graphics card:

Monitor+TV in clone mode

TV in single mode

Monitor in single mode

This also works with Intel 4600:

TV in single mode

Monitor in single mode

This doesn't work with Intel 4600:

Monitor (VGA)+TV (DVI) in clone mode.

The TV can't possibly be the problem here.. I'll try extended/dual desktop when I get home. I haven't tried that yet.. And no, my AMD graphics card hasn't been installed in setup (new mobo and cpu).

The tearing is so obvious in my case:

it is already happening while moving a windows explorer window around...

Think i solved the problem!

After installation my television is the primary screen and the monitor is the secundary screen.

After making the monitor the primary screen in the clone setup, the tearing has gone!

i'm running driver 9.18.10.3257

I will keep testing of course..

cheers,

Jerome.

I have this issue with only ONE monitor. It's pervasive- windows explorer, flash videos, mp4, avi, mkv, when scrolling a web page....

Almost always a rectangle of tearing in the bottom-left portion of the screen. This is ridiculous.

Intel HD 4600; Haswell i5; z87

8GB DDR3

Windows 7 Pro sp1 on 160GB SSD

... What gives here? Why must this be so difficult?

Hi All,

If it is happening on the built in display, then

You should check your windows aero settings on win7 and win 8.

Like start menu + aero and select the lower item ...For example I was on the classic theme which does not support aero. For me switching aero on fixed the tearing 100% with one screen. For cloned screen, I haven't tested. But I will keep this idea to select the tv as primary.

Thanks everyone for good ideas and sharing experience.

Hi sserra,

I personally have been testing the Intel® DZ87KLT-75K board using an i7-4770K and I have not been able to reproduce any screen tearing issue so far.

I recommend you to update the bios and graphics drivers to the latest provided by Intel®. Besides updating these drivers, Installing the monitor drivers and testing different cables are good steps to take.

I also have massive screen-tearing from my new 4670K (Asus Z87-PRO mobo) with Windows 7 x64.

I use VGA to my main monitor and DVI to my TV. Then I duplicate the screens and see lots of screan-tearing when I use full sreen video (Netflix, Youtube, Windows Media Player Classic).

If I only use the TV there is no screan-tearing.

I've the latest BIOS. Tried the driver version on Asus website, the latest version Kevin links to above and I've run out of ideas. if there are anymore info I can give you please tell me.

The AMD graphic card I am referring to is just the card I had before I had this cpu+mobo combo. I was just trying to point out that the TV is not the problem here..

If I use extended mode everything is perfect. It's just clone. And I got a longer cable for my mouse and can confirm that it's not just full screen video. It's always there. A browser window that I move around with the mouse for example.
