I have a Latitude E6430 running Windows 7 connected to a Dell E-Port Plus Replicator PR02X. I have a ViewSonic VA2431wm 24" and a Acer V226HQL 22" display connected to the dock using the Dell DisplayPort / Display Port to DVI Video Adapter Cable Converter - 023NVR. The laptop doesn't have the NVIDA card installed only the Intel HD 4000 graphics card.
I have tried various configuration but I cannot get both monitor to stay active once the laptlop is open (and its monitor is active). After I closed the laptop then both monitors are active again. Based off of the information from Intel regarding the Intel HD 4000 graphics card, I should be able to run all 3 displays without error. I have updated my graphics card driver to veriosn 9.18.10.3165.
I have included my dxdiag and screenshot of my Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. The below post (same issue) has been very helpful yet the issue was still not resolved.

The graphics controller in your computer and the chipset provide the capability to use 3 displays configuration. However, there is a special configuration you need to use in order to get the triple display configuration. The configuration needed is the following:
DisplayPort + DisplayPort + HDMI* or DVI or VGA or DisplayPort or Built-in Display2
DisplayPort or HDMI or DVI or VGA + DisplayPort or HDMI or DVI or VGA + Built-in Display
DisplayPort or HDMI or DVI or VGA or Built-in Display + DisplayPort or HDMI or DVI or VGA + Intel® Wireless Display (Intel® WiDi)
The above information shows the three configurations needed to get the three displays. It is not recommendable to use video adapters or convertors.

Another good step is to confirm with the computer system manufacturer if your computer can run the 3 displays configuration. As previously mention the graphics controller and the chipset provide the capability to do so, but sometimes the system manufacturers set limitations on the units.

Hello kevin_intel,
I made the suggested changes and i am still unable to get all three displays to work. My current configuration is as follows:
DVI + Built-in Display + DVI
I also read Configuration 3-Displays FAQ link which provided some good information unfortunately is still doesn't work. I spoke with Dell and they stated that there laptop or docking station doesn't have any limitations regarding the external monitors. I also tested this theory by setting up a Latitude E6430 with the Intel HD 4000 and NVIDA NVS 2500m installed. That worked flawlessly which leads me to believe that the issue lies with the video card.

Hello rtm_tech,
It is important to mention that the Built-in Display needs to be an embedded Display Port. Can you confirm if you are using this embedded display port?
The graphics controller you are using supports triple monitor configuration but we cannot guarantee it will work when using adapters or using a docking station.

Well from the screen shots I posted earlier, my built-in display is listed as LVDS. So basically since it's not eDP it won't work?

This information is straight from the Configuration 3-Displays FAQ page. For the Intel HD 4000 to actually support the three independent display configuration, the following criteria need to be met:
- If two of the displays are DisplayPort* monitors
- If one of the displays is an Intel® Wireless Display (Intel® WiDi)
- If the built-in display is an Embedded DisplayPort1 (eDP) not a LVDS

Hi rtm_tech.
I am afraid to say that the Built in Display needs to be an eDP in order to get the triple Display configuration depending on the setup you choose.
In the case that the docking station has two Display ports you can get the triple display configuration using the 2 display ports and the LDVS from the unit.

I have the same situation but with a Dell e6330. I also have the port replicator, and am also using the 23NVR DisplayPort to DVI cable.

Is there a way to get the DisplayPort/DisplayPort/DVI or VGA or Built-in display configuration working for us? I have three monitors connected, and according to the Intel Graphics Control Panel Information Center:
Two monitors as listed as
"Connector Type: DisplayPort
Device Type: Digital Display"
One monitor is listed as
"Connector Type: VGA
Device Type: Monitor"
Shouldn't this qualify as a DisplayPort/DisplayPort/VGA configuration that should be valid?
The reality is that I have the VGA monitor connected to the VGA port, one monitor connected to a DVI port, and one monitor connected to the DisplayPort via the 23NVR adapter (I think it is a passive adapter). Do I need to use active adapters in order for my DVI monitors to count as DisplayPort monitors for a triple monitor configuration?

I can also confirm that like in this thread (https://communities.intel.com/thread/42632 https://communities.intel.com/thread/42632), triple monitors does work with this monitor configuration using Ubuntu 13.04. However, it does not work in Windows 7.

Hello menzieschen,
When trying to get triple monitor configuration, we strongly recommend not using video adapters or convertors. This is because these devices need to modify and transfer the signal coming from the system to display it in another connector type and during this process the system can be affected and therefore not displaying the information or sending the signals as it should.
At this point since you are using a DP to DVI adapter the system is recognizing the signal as Digital display and due to this will not be possible to get the triple monitor configuration.
You can use display ports or mini DP also but I am afraid that when using convertors or video adapters we cannot guarantee the correct functionality of the device.

I'm having the exact same issue with a Lenovo T430S. I've heard it works if you use two Active DP adapters, but that's not an option. I have a docking station where I use 2 DVI's and my built-in screen won't work as a 3rd monitor, neither will the VGA on the docking station. I'm working as a technician in an IT Company so I have several colleagues that looked into it and there must be a problem with the driver. I can also confirm it works perfectly with the Ubuntu driver.

I'm hoping your able to come up with a solution to this problem anytime soon.

Also tried following

None of them is working, this is on a Lenovo T430S without the integrated nVidia driver and a docking station. I can also inform you I've tried with 30 other computers of the exact same model.

Hi karims,
Have you checked with the computer manufacturer if the built in display is an embedded display? This can be the reason why you are not able to get triple monitor configuration. The built in display on laptops most of times is not an embedded display.
It is important to say that the configuration for triple display can be found on this link:

Yes it seems that Dell have made the E6430 Intel 4000 limited to 2 screen in Windows 7 unless using WIDI which is very poor.
However why does it work with Ubuntu 13.04?? If true seems more software driven issue rather than hardware.
Now I'm going to look at replacing my Dell E series laptop with another E series and NVidia graphics as this can handle 4 screens.
Don't you just love buying big brands only to be given the same support you would receive from lower end of the market!!!!
Intel - Maybe you could help support your customers better and discuss this issue with Dell.

I have a Lenovo T530, I am using it with a Docking station that has 1 VGA and 2 DVI Ports (actually has 1DP & 1DVI then 1DP and 1 DVI.
I have it setup with monitor 1 in DVI 1, built in display # 2, and monitor 2 in DVI # 2.
I have an Intel HD 4000.
I have followed the FAQ configurations that you pointed out, and it will not allow me to operate both monitors and laptop display at the same time.
In the Intel software it gives me this choice:
Monitor 1
Monitor 2
Intel WiDi

Hello. I've read through this thread and have come to the conclusion that I cannot use a 3rd display because my built-in display is LVDS. My laptop is equipped with all a VGA port, HDMI port, and several USB if needed. I'm curious why it is said that if having these ports, a 3rd display is possible. For me, only the VGA connection or the HDMI connection work but never at the same time. (Using a Toshiba Satellite with Win8). Is there no way around this? What is a UGA card and is it a solution?
