Hello Non_K

Thank you very much for your response and for these videos, this is very helpful.

Also, from the reproduction steps, we understand that this works fine using driver version "30.0.101.1121", which is the latest Intel® Graphics BETA DCH Driver; thank you for this additional information.

We will proceed to review this further and as soon as there is more information available, we will be posting back in the thread.

Best regards,

Notes:

1- When you said, "The Intel_VGA(v30.0.100.9805_PV) cannot be installed since it's outdated" if you mean that the ASRock driver version 30.0.100.9805 is older than versions 30.0.101.1631/x.1660/x.1121 and thus, it cannot be installed, please allow us to inform you that is expected behavior, thus, the recommendation in those scenarios is to try a Clean Installation of Intel® Graphics Drivers in Windows* to install the driver.

2- Windows update installing an older driver is a known behavior we have seen. This is documented in the following article where there are a couple of suggestions to deal with this:

However, this is specific to Windows and how they handle updates. If you would like to address further this behavior (Windows 11 in a loop reinstalling older drivers), we recommend checking this further with Microsoft* Support.

Hello @Non_K

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to understand better the behavior and environment, could you please provide us with the following details?

1- Is the issue occurring exclusively with the graphics driver version 30.0.101.1631 and working fine with all previous versions? Please provide more details:

2- We are publishing a new driver version: 30.0.101.1660. Have you tested with this driver? If you have, is the behavior the same as with version 30.0.101.1631?

3- Our understanding is that Adobe* Camera Raw is a plug-in for Photoshop* and there are different versions of this plug-in. Could you please confirm the exact version of Adobe* Camera Raw that you are running?

4- When you said that "Camera Raw Freezes", do you mean it freezes for short periods of time? Or does it freeze and stop responding at all and the software no longer works? (for instance, having to forcibly close or kill the process?). Please elaborate more on the details of the issue:

5- Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:

  • Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
  • Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
  • Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.

To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.

1- Yes. The problem only starts to occur after updating the Intel driver to 30.0.101.1631. I was notified by Intel® Driver & Support Assistant that this update is available for download.

2- I have just installed 30.0.101.1660 and the problem still occurs.

3- Camera Raw Version:
14.2.0.1028

Photoshop Version:
20.0.1

4- After applying any camera raw adjustments, Photoshop becomes unresponsive unless its process was terminated.

For some reason, the Intel Graphics Command Center has automatically updated the driver to 27.20.100.9415, and I have enabled hardware acceleration for Camera Raw, and it's now working properly.

Hello Non_K

Thank you for your response and for all the information.

We understand that rolling back to the driver version 27.20.100.9415, it makes Photoshop Camera Raw work properly.

Checking the ASRock* website for the motherboard H570M-ITX/ac, we noticed that they have a newer driver than 27.20.100.9415. Could you please test this driver and let us know if Camera Raw works fine or if the issue persists?

(You may try a Clean Installation of Intel® Graphics Drivers in Windows* to install this driver)

Also, please make sure that the Operating System is up to date and install any pending updates, You may refer to this link: Update Windows*.

Finally, we noticed that there is a newer BIOS version available for the motherboard: 1.70. As per the Intel® SSU report, the system is running the previous version 1.50. Therefore, we recommend contacting ASRock Support for assistance to update the BIOS and checking any information that may be considered prior to updating the BIOS.

Once you have tried the previous suggestions, please kindly provide us with the following so we can review this further:

1- Is the behavior the same with the ASRock* driver 30.0.100.9805?

2- Add clear reproduction step-by-step instructions (this is very important). If possible, share a video showing the reproduction steps and the behavior.

3- Are the Camera Raw Version: 14.2.0.1028 and the Photoshop Version: 20.0.1 the latest versions available for them? If not, please confirm you update and run the latest version and latest patches.

4- Please also confirm that the Windows® is up to date with no pending updates:

5- Display maker, model, and type of cables/video ports in use. Also, please confirm the Screen Resolution (e.g.: 1920x1080, 3840x2160):

6- Run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool to verify that both the processor and the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) are fine.

To save the report, once the test is done, click on "File >> View Results File" and attach the .txt file to your reply.

Thank you for providing comprehensive steps to diagnose the problem with Camera Raw. Intel® Graphics Command Center keeps on sending notifications to update the driver and after updating from 27.20.100.9415 to 30.0.101.1631, the problem keeps coming back.

After updating to 30.0.101.1631, however, Windows 11 would install 27.20.100.9415 as a part of the Windows update. I don't have any option to choose a driver. It just installs it. The update cycle through Intel® Graphics Command Center and Windows 11 is on a loop.

The Intel_VGA(v30.0.100.9805_PV) cannot be installed since it's outdated.

Hello Non_K

We are still working on this matter. However, we would like to know if you could test this behavior with the Camera Raw plug-in on newer hardware, for instance, a Tiger Lake-based platform (a system with 11th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors and graphics controllers like UHD Graphics for 11th generation or Iris® Xe Graphics).

If you have access to such as system to test this, please kindly let us know the outcome and if you have different behavior or if the issue persists. In case you don't have access to newer hardware, please just let us know.

I don't have such a system and currently, not needing one. 14th gen is the way to go for my next CPU upgrade, or maybe I would just acquire a dedicated graphics card. If the Intel Arc GPUs for desktops would work with my existing processor, then I would get that.

For now, 27.20.100.9415 does the job well.

I also posted this on Adobe Support Community and some users also experience the same or similar issues with the newer drivers.

Hello Non_K

We apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

Also, we would like to inform you that we have tested this in a newer graphics generation (Tiger Lake Gen12/Xe) and we were unable to see the issue that you reported. Having said that, we can not promise any fix on older graphics generations as this is not impacting newer Intel generations.

We tested on a system with Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, Driver versions "30.0.101.1660" and "30.0.101.1631", and Windows® 11.

At the moment we were doing the tests, there were available newer versions of the Adobe Software, so we tested this using Adobe Photoshop 23.3.1 and Camera Raw 14.3. We would suggest giving it a try and updating your software in case you haven't tried this yet.

Also, we just released yesterday a new graphics driver: Intel® Graphics – Windows* DCH Driver Version 30.0.101.1960. Their Release Notes don't mention any "fix" or "known issue" regarding Adobe Software problems with older graphics generations; however, you may test this new driver version to see if there is any improvement.

If the behavior persists and considering we can not promise any fix on older graphics generations, our recommendation would be to continue checking for updates for both drivers and Adobe software in case a future release may address this issue.

We will proceed to close this thread now. If you need any additional information, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored. It has been a pleasure to assist you.

Yes, please close the thread now.
I have just installed 30.0.101.1960 and after testing it several times, Camera Raw filter seems to work as expected.
