I seached within Intel Support and what I got were Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller drivers for MICROSOFT WINDOWS 7.

Microsoft Windows 8 was released yesterday, October 26 and where is the compatible driver for it?
Could an Intel technical support representative feedback to technical support about this problem?

Sandy Bridge laptops don't have intel's own USB 3.0, so it's most likely Renesas USB 3.0 which is a 3rd party chip. So that would be more of Renesas's problem and not intels. You could check here if they http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm have updated drivers, but at the moment I don't see any for Windows 8.
edit: Some laptops use 7 series chipset (which are used for IvyBridge CPU) but with SandyBridge CPU.
In the device manager, it shows as "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)",
To the best of my knowledge, if one buys a desktop or laptop PC from Asus, Acer, Dell, Lenovo, Sony, etc. the buyer will have to obtain device drivers from them and NOT from the manufacturers of the various components that make up the PC.
The same goes for Microsoft Windows OS. If it comes pre-installed on your PC, you will have to approach your PC OEM vendor for technical support. Microsoft will not entertain requests for technical support in this instance.
Since I bought my laptop PC from Dell, I expect Dell to at least provide me the Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller driver that is compatible with Windows 8. I can't expect help from Microsoft or Intel.

And for your information, Sony has all Windows 8 drivers available so people with a sony vaio laptop can find everything on their website! I installed intel chipset drivers so i suppose that should get my usb 3 to work i haven't tested it yet...
So as you said, go on your vendors website to find them drivers....:-)

You have made a mistake. Intel chipset drivers are different from Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller drivers.

Dell is NOT the same as Sony. The reason I posted my request on this website is that Dell, my PC OEM vendor, does a lousy job at providing technical support.

Actually, Intel is the one being lazy. Intel first writes the driver because USB 3.0 we are talking about here is their hardware, and then the OEMs use that driver to test it on their system. Then they finally release it on their own web page. It's not like Dell or Sony writes their own drivers, but they sometimes make minor modifications. That's why people are coming here to complain about Intel being slow with the USB 3.0 drivers, and that's the way it is. If the manufacturer doesn't release a driver, then nobody will have it.
Pierre-Joe Fekete, as Bowie already said, chipset driver does not include USB driver. So your Sony's USB 3.0 is not actually USB 3.0 right now.

You have hit the nail on its head.
Hardware manufacturers release their device drivers to PC OEMs which then test them for compatibility. If there are no glitches to be found, the latter will release them for download by their customers.

Can you tell us the model name and number of your Sony VAIO laptop PC? I was at Sony VAIO's website and couldn't locate the Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller driver for Windows 8.
I'm on a Clevo W370ET (Optimus IV from PC Specialist UK) and I'm also having problems with USB 3.0 in Win8.
Previously I was using Win7 - UBB 3.0 was working perfectly. Then I install Win8 and the compatibility is lost. Guess we have to wait for intel to fix it :<

What intel is saying is a crock. I have the latest driver they say is ok but it still shows as incompatible!
Microsoft is releasing the driver. It already has. Look at your USB controller. it says Microsoft Extensible Host Controller USB 3.0. You can check it on Device Manager.
I hate to tell you that you are mistaken. Under "Device Manager", in "Properties", the manufacturer is "Generic" not Intel.
When did Microsoft or Intel change its company's name to Generic?
You have click the driver details on properties. I am not on Windows 8 now, i cant tell exactly but its not the generic name.

Notice the word "Generic" under the "Manufacturer" row.
