With HD530 (Skylake) no shadow under mouse pointer

Hello to all,

I have an interesting problem which is pretty annoying. My system is with i5 Skylake with HD530 and W10.

IntelHD Graphics prefs has a setting for spectrum range, I had to select full spectrum range, and then the shadows appear until the next system restart.

Does anybody know how to turn on shadow below mouse pointer permanently?

Also in Photoshop my pointer looks weird, everything with the pointer is weird. I think my question should be addressed to Intel: Can you make the driver work 100%? A shadow is really the last thing I would be expecting to be an issue. Customers are paying quite big money for Intel products, so we expect quality products and services.

Thank you for any help.

Hello MilanLipowski ,

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

You can enable Windows Mouse Pointer Shadow feature following the steps at the following link:

Hello:

Thank you all for reporting this issue and for all the information provided on this thread.

I just wanted to let you all know that this issue has been filed internally under case number 01154666.

Please keep in mind that this has not been reproduced in our labs, and since it is mainly an aesthetic bug we won't have a fix anytime soon.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto

It's an aesthetic bug but it's not something you see only when you play a specific game. It's something you see all day every day, every second. You shouldn't underestimate this bug just because "it's aesthetic"...

Hello:

We really appreciate and respect all the comments from all the peers participating on this thread.

And, yes, we do understand that this problem is permanent and it happens not only with games.

At this point, the best option that we can offer you will be to install the latest graphics driver and a BIOS update to the latest version, depending on the system you are using.

The issue has been filed internally under case number 01154666, and at this point we will need to wait for a resolution, we are doing a research in order to try to find a possible fix for this problem, but, the thing is that there is no specific time frame of when we might able to provide the solution, or if we will be able to actually find it.

To MilanLipowski, I just wanted to find out if you verified the information submitted previously on this thread?

We do know that you were looking to fix this problem, we did the best we can at this point, but there is just no fix ready for it at this time.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience to all of you.

Any questions, please let me know.

Hello:

I just wanted to let you all know that I just received a document in regard to some tests that were perform in order to try to replicate the issue with the mouse pointer.

At this stage it seems to be, the problem is related to the operating system, but, we will do further research in order to confirm if that is the case, or if it happens for a different reason.

Any questions, please let me know.

Thank you very much, Alberto.

But in my case, the issue exists in all operating systems like Window 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. The Resolution is always FullHD 1920X1080. Changing it to 1600 X 900 didn't fix it, and the Issue is always present and visible. I have tested it with new and fresh clean install, with newest Intel HD Graphics drivers.

It could only be fixed temporaly, if you activate the mouse tracks or the Spectrum area in the Intel Graphic Settings. But with the Reboot of the System, the Issue turns back.

Connected to an ASUS MX279H with HDMI Cable. With VGA Cable there is no Issue.

With Linux Ubuntu or Mint OS there is no Shadow or Aliasing Mouse Pointer Issue.

If you need more informations, please let me know.

The problem doesn't happen with a generic Microsoft driver. And it doesn't happen with an nVidia GPU. It happens only with an Intel driver with HDMI connection.

That's correct, Gapudo.

I don't understand something. This Issue must be present since Release of i7 6700K (HQ). Has no one of Intel noticed it ?! It is obvious.

I have tested it with the First Intel HD Graphics Driver, and it still exists from the beginning.

Hello Janami25:

Thank you very much for sharing all those details, they are very valuable for us to continue doing the investigation, and for all the peers on this thread.

Also, we just wanted to check, if you have the option to use the other digital ports, like display port, or DVI?

If you do not have that option, that is no problem, is just that we wanted to confirm if it only happens with the HDMI Port.

We are currently still working on this case, in order to try to find the reason why this problem is happening and a possible fix for it, but as you mentioned before, it seems to be a problem related to the driver.

As soon as I get any updates about this case, I will post all the information on this thread.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto

My Display Asus MX279H had only 2 HDMI and one VGA (analog) Port. There are no DVI Ports or Displayport to check it...sorry.

Tested it with VGA, and there is no Issue. Only with HDMI.

I have (almost) the same question - my issue is with the Intel HD 520 (Skylake), not the 530, but it's definitely the same.

I cannot really enable the mouse shadow at all - not from any of the usual places in the Control Panel. It only says shadow is enabled, but it isn't. Additionally, whenever the busy cursor appears (the animated blue circle), its edges are jagged - as if there is no antialiasing whatsoever. The funny thing is that if I decide to take a screenshot, the circle in the screenshot IS antialiased (see below).

Screenshot 1: Taken with Lightshot - http://prntscr.com/bbxfoc http://prntscr.com/bbxfoc - as you see, in the screenshot it appears antialiased.

Screenshot 2: Taken with my phone camera - http://prntscr.com/bbxfq7 http://prntscr.com/bbxfq7 - as you see, the cursor is actually jagged.

Btw, I tried to see whether the shadow appears in the screenshot too, like the antialiasing. Alas, it does not.

System: Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 460, i7 6500U, Intel HD 520, Full HD touch & pen enabled, 8GB RAM, 2xSSD, Windows 10 Pro (64)

I was trying this configuration to see if I get the same problem with this driver version but I do not get this problem.

Do you have Windows up to date with all the updates available even the optional ones?
